I speak nightly to a bunch of USians from the south and 'deep' south of the US. They tell me about the tendency of some minorities to act in a socially regressive way. We don't have the kind of 'colour' bias like they do in the US. It just doesn't happen.

My friends describe a group of people who are angry that they are not spoon fed the cream and honey that the media portrays that society is able to give them. They are basically parasites on society, and proud of it. And they happen also to have non-white skin tones. When threatened with having to actually contribute to society, riots ensue.

I'm not making this up, nor trying to marginalize them. This is how it has been described to me. My friends don't think they are any better than blacks in their country, but they see a specific group of blacks behave this way and are disgusted by it.

It's so strange to me, but that is they way they see it. Call it racist if you like, but there is no other way to describe this group other than to note their skin colour and behaviour as a group. They actually refer to this group using the 'N' word, which I will not use.

   

Bart & Caleb are pretty much correct. Subtract the massive amount of violent crime that occurs in the black community from the overall statistics for the United States and the entire country becomes a massively more peaceful place. Black males make up only about 6 to 7% of the overall US population but statistically they're responsible for upwards of 60 to 70% of the violence. It's not racist to say it and all the liberal finger-pointing against guys like Bart when they mention it doesn't change the demographic and statistical reality of the situation.

   

When they are white, we call them either Rednecks or Trailer Trash.
Both groups are proud of being that as well.

   

No one likes rednecks either. I certainly don't and I'll stand by my known 5-year long record here on CKA of sticking up for President Obama against those trailer trash idiots. But statistically the rednecks just aren't responsible for anywhere near the amount of lethal criminal violence that the black male demographic is. Getting into a pissing contest with Bart over this won't do anything to change basic reality.

Did you hear about the murder-suicide in Quebec? It doesn't have the excitement of an American shooting that fits into preconceived beliefs about guns, crime, and race, but it does have a higher body count than the New Orleans gang shooting (in which 3 people were seriously injured).

   

We have all sorts of gang shootings in Vancouver. Almost no black people. Poverty and inequality breed violence. If a certain race is at the economic bottom, then they will be the ones committing a large percentage of the violent crime. The Hell's Angels used to be pure white and are still mostly so. They are at the top of our gang world. They're just powerful enough to get others to do their killing for them.

Meanwhile, "white" collar crime and corruption does much more damage to the state, but nobody really gets excited about it until we get a meltdown.

No, you're not-so-cleverly calling me a racist and a white supremacist because I'm stating a fact that's abundantly available to you all over the net.

You're also quoting me as saying things I did not say.

So, like I said...

   

It's a two way street. For Canadians it's Natives that commit violent crimes in far greater proportion than their numbers. For blacks and Natives (did I get the capitalization right?) racism put them there. So we have to do our part in helping them move beyond that, do more than just denigrate them. OTOH, we know about the myths the Natives are telling themselves that keep them stuck - those need to be addressed too, as does the reserve system. Likely there's a similar effort required by American blacks. I think whitey has to make the first move tho. For American blacks, the stick already exists - half of all prison inmates are black. Time for a carrot that actually helps people up, doesn't just keep them stuck.

   

The Americans have also spent over $14 trillion on local/state/federal levels since the 1960's on welfare-type programs yet the violence remains and has gotten remarkably worse since then. For that kind of money they probably could have had a permanently manned colony on Mars or one of the Jovian moons with about 5000 people living in it by now. And they'd also be getting a hell of a lot more value for their dollars if they'd given that money to the space program than they have from most of what they've spent trying to fix the woes of the inner city wastelands over the last 50+ years.
