A dozen protesters carry rifles to Obama speech

Last warning.
Reel in the rhetoric, tie down all the jerking knees and start following the direction of the mod staff as previously issued in this thread.
The health care debate floundered for a number of reasons and it wasn't because a dozen polite folks stood blocks away with a gun. The Dems want to point a finger that all these people who are against health care are Rep. puppets but the truth is that America isn't homogenious. It's a country of individuals and demanding they all walk, lock step into a brave new world of change is just a dream.
I like my healthcare, I pay for it and I like it alot!
I like my guns, and I am a collector of guns own about 50 different guns, its my right just like freedom of speech is.

America's also the place where a policy to deliver some sort of reliable health care to people who currently have none got spun into being worse than anything Stalin ever did. I'll chalk this one down as just another all-American example of Lee Atwater's atavistic and thoughtlessly lethal Frankenstein escaping it's chains to once again rumbling around the countryside smashing and killing everything in it's path.
And I'll even take a well-deserved cheap shot at the utter stupidity of American liberals and Democrats. Just like Johann Hari said, they have the White House and both parts of Congress under their firm control but they run like cowards from a bunch of braindead haters who've been stoked up by the modern communications equivalent of Julius Streicher? They still waste valuable time and capital on more pointless efforts at bipartisan hand-holding? Shame on them for such a horrible display of cowardice, and for being stuck in a time-warp of utterly insipid 1960's "I'd Like To Buy The World A Coke" sentimentality. If they haven't got the balls to hit the enemy back with the exact same weapons and tactics then they too don't deserve to remain in power.

But it's not about your fundamental rights. It's about health care, and it's something that BOTH sides need to understand will require, reasoned and rational debate. Mud slinging, openly carrying fire arms to rallies about this issue, all the demonizing, and scare tactics do nothing but turn it into a media circus.
What people don't quite realize is, Canada already has a 2 tiered system. Let's say I need some stuff done and I'm put on a waiting list. IF I'm willing or able to cough up the dough for what that treatment actually costs, as opposed to what, in my case would be OHIP, would pay for it, I get in faster.
Do you even know if that's going to be the case there? I bet no-one does cuz no-one will shut up long enough to listen.
Bringing a gun to a debate on health care would be like bringing a condom to rally for virginity.
It's also about something being shoved down the throats of Americans by a populous president. The tea parties were panned as plants and the Dems are trying to do the same with this.
The media isn't going to win this one, despite what CNN tells you.
The American people are speaking and beleive it or not the politicians are listening, Just cause its not a bunch of hippies in a field in upstate NY does not mean they should not be heard.

Well, actually everyone in the USA has the legal right to emergency medical care and without respect to whether or not they can afford it. That's the law. In many states there are also county hospitals that provide non-critical care to the indigent and some of those county hospitals (like UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento) are outstanding insititutions.
The debate down here centers on the fact that a key number of Democrats want a single-payer (meaning the government) system and they are not going to stray from that goal. These Democrats effectively derailed the current debate by saying that the current proposal is merely a gateway proposal meant to get to the single-payer plan which they are now calling the "public option". The Independent, conservative Democrat, and Republican opposition to the health care plan
in general at this point is due to the fact that the Democrat leadership has said that this is a gateway proposal.
Now one thing you good folks outside of the USA are probably not aware of is that the very best health care plan in the USA is the one that Members of Congress enjoy. Now when I lose my private health plan and everyone else loses their health plan to the new single payer model guess which one insurance plan in America is exempt from that "great" proposal?
That's right: the same plan that the Democrats and Obama want to impose on everyone else? They already exempted themselves from it
for life.
Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, Barney Frank, Harry Reid, none of these people will ever be treated in a public hospital.
In that respect we'll be just like Cuba with one tier of care for most people and another for the ruling class.
When the Democrats in Congress say that they'll end their insurance plan to participate in whatever they want everyone else to use then I will be open to examining the idea. But when they deliberately exempt themselves from the plan they want for 330 million Americans I have an instant problem with the idea.
And if LEGALLY carrying a rifle at an event helps to underline this sentiment then fine.

.
Or much like Canada, The rich there dont use their own hospitals nor do their politicians they come to the US for that.
"Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, Barney Frank, Harry Reid, none of these people will ever be treated in a public hospital"
Oh and I'm sure Bush, Cheney, Rummy, and Rice went to any hospital any of you could get into? What, exactly is going to change? I think you have it backwards since all before Obama's plan, presidents and congresspeople still had health care YOU were excluded from. So the muckety mucks keep their priviledged health care they already have, and everyone else has access to proper health care and NOT just for dire emergencies. Well shit, load up my guns Martha, there's anarchy afoot.

All Canadian politicians? My MP and MLA use hospitals right here. Or are you just speaking of a few ultra rich politicians? Clear this little tidbit of information up.
just more anti-canada propaganda. Belinda Stronach is rich and an ex-politician and she went to the US for some of her treatment for breast cancer although she received most of it here before and after visting the US.
$1:
Stronach's spokesman, Greg MacEachern said speed was not the reason why she went to California.
Instead, MacEachern said the decision was made because the U.S. hospital was the best place to have it done due to the type of surgery required.
"Belinda thinks very highly of the Canadian health-care system, and uses it when needed for herself and her children, as do all Canadians. As well, her family has clearly demonstrated that support."
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20070914/belinda_Stronach_070914/20070914 But apparently she must be our only rich person and the only politician we ever had.
Interestingly enough, Al Gore's son was in an accident during the first clinton campaign and his arm was severed. Gore wanted to bring him to the best pediatric surgical facility in North America, which was Toronto Sick Kids Hospital but his advisors warned about the optics, so they flew the Canadian doctor to New Orleans to "observe" an American colleague he recommended down there.

Yeah, like just because the democrats swept the presidency, the senate and house in the last election ,like do the Democrats think they have some right to govern or something? Who do they think they are, George Bush? Don't they know Republicans get make all the rules even if they loose every election for the next thousand years? God willed America to the Republicans!

Well, I guess I'll repost this since you're conveneintly ignoring it:
Republican front organization FREEDOMWORKS Instructions on "best practices" to disrupt townahll meetings
$1:
Artificially Inflate Your Numbers: “Spread out in the hall and try to be in the front half. The objective is to put the Rep on the defensive with your questions and follow-up. The Rep should be made to feel that a majority, and if not, a significant portion of at least the audience, opposes the socialist agenda of Washington.”
– Be Disruptive Early And Often: “You need to rock-the-boat early in the Rep’s presentation, Watch for an opportunity to yell out and challenge the Rep’s statements early.”
– Try To “Rattle Him,” Not Have An Intelligent Debate: “The goal is to rattle him, get him off his prepared script and agenda. If he says something outrageous, stand up and shout out and sit right back down. Look for these opportunities before he even takes questions.”
You can read the full memo here:
http://thinkprogress.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/townhallactionmemo.pdfAnd they weren't "peacefully protesting down the street" They were IN the townhall meetings in the audience using the above tactics and yelling and screaming about "death panels" and "socalism" and all that was missing was the tin foil hats.
