The interview itself clears up that situation. "Staged" just seems to be the term used to deride those who plan ahead and actually inform the police of the presence of their firearms. The more I hear, the more this seems like a peaceable gun rights/libertarianesque display.

Perhaps, but comparing the behavior of one group to another smacks of the childish "But he did it first!" argument. Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it, and I don't plan on lowering myself to a relativistic standard.
I find it is much better to defend the motivation of the individual. Until someone actually brings evidence to the table, we are merely engaging in partisan speculation, and I hope the presumption of innocence still carries some weight.
