Canadian
Oh dear.
Oh dear oh dear oh dear....
Well... they did the exact fucking same to us in WWII. So we are even.
Well, we arn't so innocent now anyway... No one is.
What's the point?
We pretty much raised as many German cities as they did.
Best thing to do is just not to think about it.
Shooting those who surrender is one of the war crimes that tends to pay itself off, usually with interest. Once guys farther back in the trenches saw them shoot a guy who was trying to surrender, do you think any of them would ever dreamed of surrendering? NO WAY, they would have gone down fighting, and taken as many Canadians with them as they could. Which is why it's stupid to shoot guys who are surrendering, no matter how pissed off you may be.
It's all well and good to say what they did was wrong, when you are thinking rationally. However, when you are in the heat of battle with adrenaline pumping through your veins being continuously barraged by hails of bullets and seeing many of your friends being killed, surely you cannot say that things like this will not happen. Unless you have been in this sort of situation I don't think you can really judge what our soldiers did during the two World Wars.
Serves them right for surrendering. They should have died defending their country like a man, not giving up like a pussy.
One of the things to conisder is when a person surrendered. In close range combat soliders are going to be under great stress, this can impare judment and since Canadaians were trained though propaganda the Germans were the enemy and trained to shoot Germans through combat expirience, these unconsious biases may is of great importaince if the soldiers in question are under too much stress for rathinonal thought.
Ya lets look at what our men did 90 years ago and put today's Social validation on it. Our men who fought valiently and bravely at places like Passendale, Ypres and the Somme. Who endured the hardships of being away from home, in a virtual meat cutter of realism.. Ya bad things happened.. nah the germans weren't lobbing explosive shells, Mustard gas /chlorine gas ( oh by the way which the Germans were the first to use in Europe.).. No they were lobbing crumpets and muffins and tea bags at them.. invitions to dinner and birthday parties abounded. Proof positive that our political correctness of today should stay with today.
Instances to brutality at a time of war between combatents, is just that. It was a war.. the only good thing that happens is they end with a victor and a vanquished.. thats it.. and even that can be argued.
There were countless acts of heoism and countless acts of bravery.. but all we ever focus on are the negatives...
On a world War 2 note apart from the execution of millions in Hitlers Final solution. The murder of Thousands of Polish infantry and thier officers not only at the hands of the Germans but the Russians as well.
Did Canadian troops round up an entire village stuff them all in a church set fire to that church and machine gun down anyone who tried to escape.. Men Women and children... Uhm no.. that would be the Germans in the Czechoslovakia. Lezaky and Lidice
Look at this link it's the official indictment against what was left of the Regime: but we're the Bad Guys give your heads a shake.

What about what they did to Canadian troops at Dieppe during and After the raid on August 19, 1942, What about the Slaughter of surrendered Canadian troops outside Caen 1944. More than 130 young Canadians who were taken prisoner by the 12th SS Hitler Jugend (The Nazi philosophy turned 19-year-olds, nurtured in the Hitler youth camps, into ruthless killers.) in Normandy. They were marched behind German lines, interrogated, and then brutally gunned down as they stood disarmed and helpless.
There were differences Most is not all the atrocities carried out by the Germans in the Second World war were at the hand of the SS ( even the gestapo) not the Professional soldiers of the Wehrwacht who fought for the most part by the rules of the geneva convention.
Learn something about history before you paint us as the bad guys in all this. Our men went to war for King and country in both wars. To uphold our values and our social order.
Here's a great book to start with:
Cliff Chadderton
Some of the best videos of Canada's involvement.. from the men who were there:

Sorry guys but Shit like this just burns me straight to the core of my being.
Leave you with this quote from the great american General GS Patton
"If everyone is thinking alike, then someone is not thinking." G.S. Patton
and this Video.. (from the movie)
Just curious, who are you quoting Knoss?
By the way, it may be the wrong war but warfare in any war is still the same. Brutal and to the point.
U.S. won the Spanish/American war and I don't know what America has to do with with Russian Civil War of 1917-22.
The thing is no nation has both threatened Canada and made an attack on the North Maerican continet since 1884. Canada had no need to fight in the Boer War, the World WarKorea, or Iraq.
For all the talk of briningin democracy in world War 1 there was no effert to help the Germans. For all the talk of Liberating Europe in World War 2 half was left to the Communists, seems courage runs out, after our leaders drag us inot a fight.
As to killing prisoners it is importaint to understand killings under stress and cold-blooded revenge killing so both will be prevented.
Besides I give no damn in hell to the fool sons of bitches who died in against a country which would never hurt Canada, and especially one who allowed democracy to be manipulated to dive such a war.
