He isn't defending Dion's stupid comments but merely saying that the Afghanis should look after themselves in the future. Be it Libs or Cons who put troops there, our role their should be to deal with the Taliban (although that looks like it will never happen so.....) and help the Afghanis. However, the problems with that is that some Afghanis want to live in the 7th century. It sucks but that is their choice.
