PENATRATOR PENATRATOR:
What does their profession have to do with whether they should be worried about the flue gigs? Are you saying a perfectly healthy person is immune from the flu? Well I consider myself a healthy physically fit male, however, as I have a 4 year old in kindergarten I am just as likely to catch what he brings home from school as some fat fucking slob whose kid is in the same class. Aside from the travels and exposure to the public these guys have compared to a regular joe like you or I have, keep in mind many of them also have small children, and if you have ever played team sports, you would realize that the atmosphere for a team (especially a pro team) is a breeding ground for something to spread. So to me that puts them at a high risk

Yes but the Flames players are not considered high risk , which is the target of the first round of vaccine. But since they are just a bunch of crybabbies I'm sure they don't care XD .

They should be a priority and not because they're a pro team. They are constantly traveling and are surrounded by many people in airports, arenas and restaurants. The shots aren't all about the prevention of them getting it, but also that they don't transmit the virus to others who haven't been vaccinated.

Too bad, big strong hockey players worried about the Flu? it's more like the team is worried about losing players and dropping into the gutter. What a crock people should be pissed.

Actually if you were up to speed on this flue you'd understand that it's not a "regular" flue and is indeed one that will and has killed young, strong and healthy adults. It's also one of the primary ways which stops the spread of the virus........if you'd have read what I wrote.

Read my last, post if the Alberta government reopens the Flu clinics on Thursday and adds Professional athletes into the high risk group I'll eat my hat!

So a guy like Iginla who everyday is in a dressing room filled with germs, signs an autograph for a young fan, using the fans pen, now the pen just happens to be contaminated with H1N1 germs, because the young fan is in the early stages of it. So Jerome coughs in the room, right next to say Conroy, who has a 9 year old daughter, who gives his daughter a kiss at home, who then spreads it in her class, and so on and so on.

Me thinks you have pro athlete jealousy. Why the need to call them cry babies? Did you not make a Pee Wee allstar team back in 1972 or something?

EyeBrock @ Tue Nov 03, 2009 12:36 pm

Personally I think we should be giving it to the under 5 year-olds before millionaire athletes.

Well Sherlock the fact that they are pro athletes means little. The fact they travel exensively throughout North America and often mix with the general public makes them high risk...which makes them a priority.

ASLplease @ Tue Nov 03, 2009 12:41 pm

the players wives should have stood in line for 6 1/2 hours like King Ralph's wife did.

Players get first access to all health services in this Country, why should this be a surprise?

When a player gets an MRI overnight when the majority of us are waiting months, it doesn't take much to understand what's going on.

Premier ( Oiler fan ) Ed doesn't agree with you on this one. Actually a lot of people living here don't agree.

He's not happy that kids and moms to be, were being turned away Friday while the players and their families were getting their shots hand delivered. But to late now, whats done is done.

Alta_redneck @ Tue Nov 03, 2009 7:32 pm

Well it's official, Alberta Liberal leader and Calgary MD Dr. Swann says that professional hockey players are not a high risk group and is incensed that this went down.

Hows it feel to think like a Lib, Gigs.

oh shit :P

It's bloody common sense though why the hell should a hockey player be a priority when an asthmatic 10 year old has to wait in a line?

BS. City of Calgary Police officers and Fireman were told to wait in line as well should they not be a priority? how about transit operators? Did the pilots who fly those planes all around the world get a line pass as well? How about the stewardesses? By your logic Walmart cashiers should be a priority .

The best thing is the Flames can't use the excuse they had the Flu when they get their asses kicked

Me thinks you guys have a warped sense of priority. Big deal so a pro athlete gets sick for a few days  the worlds not going to end. 40 percent of a police force goes missing than there could be trouble.

Using your logic a transit bus driver gets coughed on by a passenger. The driver takes it home and passes it to his kids who in turn take it to school and infects the whole student body and so on and so and so ........

and anybody who would give you a rep point for that comment is a coward without an opinion to offer.

So are 100,000 of businesspeople who have to stand in line.

I agree with Regina: they are part of a risk group. Businesspeople don't share water and other body fluids and are not changing in the same room :P
