When it comes to Mohawks, how the hell can you tell who is white and who is 'native', seeing as they've been mingling bloodlines for centuries?
Even I have a few drops of that. Just about any family that goes back to the original settlers around the lower Great Lakes region is mixed up with the Iroquois, somewhere. Those white/native divisions went up sometime later, it would seem ... probably when immigration shifted from the initial Scotch/Irish to English settlers. As a matter of fact, I knew a Mohawk from Khanawake named MacDonald ...

We've been calling them "Indians" for over half a millennium.
Blame it on Chris Columbus. He was searching for the back route into India, and when he found America he didn't want to look like a complete idiot to his men so he said 'of course, these brownish guys are the Indians we were looking for!'.

When the natives start taking land by force of arms off the reserve, then we can talk about that. In fact, when they did it at Oka we called in the army.

When you let spoiled brats do as they please, that then becomes the norm. A slap across the ass will start to curb that behavior.

Actually this move makes perfect sense. What's the point of having Indian reservations if non-natives come come and live there, enjoy the tax free status and crowd out the natives? Next thing you know they'll demand to have a vote on the band govt etc. We're the ones who pushed them onto those reservations, now we have to live with it.

Nah, we did it a whole different way, took way more courage. Look at that iconic image of the Canadian Soldier going nose to nose with the Mohawk.
