Get over it. Just because some 9/11 terrorists were muslim, doesn't mean all muslims are terrorists.
It's like building a fascist meeting hall beside Auschwitz.

But some 9/11 victims' families said they were offended by the idea.
Massapequa resident Rosemary Cain called the plan “despicable.” She lost a son on 9/11.
In all honesty, you would be offended by any mosque being built, no matter what or where. And understandable. But the world has to move on, muslims are part of society, and not all are asses or want to kill everyone who is not muslim.

How so?

The American Society for Muslim Advancement and the Cordoba Initiative said the project would help to improve relations between the West and Muslims.
As long as terrorist attacks keep happening, Muslims refuse to assimilate and Muslims continue to try and turn Western Society into an Islamic Society, I think it's safe to say that there is going to be a big ass war that makes WWII look like a game of paintball.

The only people who will find this is a problem are the people who view Muslims as the new Untermensch.

A better analogy would be allowing the Orangemen to march in Londonderry. It's completely legal, but not really the best idea, because everyone(including those who are proposing to build it) knows it's going to stir the pot. Choose another location a little further away and save yourself the trouble..
I'll have to agree with Shep. There are probably a great number of mosques in New York City, but this is going to stir some shit specifically because of the Twin Towers issue.

To steal a slogan
We're here, we're Muslims, get used to it.
Stirring shit up seems to be the only way to make change. Or do they want to ride at the back of the bus for four generations waiting for change to happen?

...Back of the bus? Change? There are already 90 mosques in New York City, and Muslims in the United States are granted freedoms and security that many don't have back in their home countries.
They're stirring up shit to get attention, not to further some civil rights movement. It's "insensitive" to steal a word that I hear quite often over Muslim involved/related issues.

Edit: I'm going to add to the "stirring up shit" evidence by the proposed name Cordoba House. As in the same city of the capital of Islamic Spain (which wasn't conquered peacefully). If that's an error, it's in pretty bad taste.
People get upset over the stupidest reasons. This is just another one.
Meh if people are so upset, just put up a 50ft picture of Muhammed across from it.
