You quite clearly don't understand how our parliamentary system works. Read a book and then come back.
I assume you've read a book yourself then.......which one?
Raising chickens for Dummies.

Lots of people support her bravery. Did you get 3000 fans in a few hours?

oh boy, 3000 other idiots that don't understand how Canada's political system works. I'm sure there's more.

I went on there. Saw where a guy who had taught with me for 20 years had posted in support. I don't remember him as being a real radical, just a thinking guy. So as not to be outdone by him I posted too

We understand how it works, we just want it to change.

I don't think you do. A lot of people are crying because the Conservatives didn't get a majority of the votes but that's not how a Canadian majority get's elected. Unless you are going to make it a two party system you're probably not going to get a true majority. This is the way it is. Sorry.

Most of us do understand how it works, all too well! This is why we would like it to change. Then we can at least approach the idea of a democracy.
If a young person like Brigette DePape understands the issues, I think more of us could.
Just because some don't agree with the way you support the status-quo doesn't necessarily mean they are wrong.

Everywhere else but Canada and two party systems, coalition majorities are the norm.

Quebec has promised to take the Fed. government to court if they try to make the senate more fair. Good luck trying to get our parliamentary system changed.

I don't what? Know how it works?? Or want to change it??
Good grief man, you must have a hyper inflated self image if you think you are the one who "knows" how "it" works. It's not rocket science. Get more votes, get the seat. Wow! That explain it for ya! I would like to see that changed to "Get 50% +1 ya gets the seat." There are ways to deal with that. Some people like the idea of proportional rep. I don't really like that so much because you have to deal with fringe parties in the Commons: the MaryJane party, the "If We don't get our way we want to seperate Party" and the "No matter what happens, we should suck off the Yanks Party."

Don't have to be a two party system.

Not in Britain, present gov't excepted.
Coalition governments.
Please believe this, as someone who has experience living in them:
Canada does not need, and will not benefit from a PR system.

I'd give two shits about this if the complainst started before the Conservatives got in. Nobody complained about how the system ran when the Liberals had their majorities. Suck it up and take it like a man.
Thanos @ Sat Jun 04, 2011 2:19 pm
Didn't see too many leftists supporting the idea either when the Reform Party wanted to make vast systemic changes to the entire electoral mechanism. Oh yeah, I forgot. At the time of these proposals most Canadian leftists were running around screaming "Hitler! Hitler! These Albertans are worse than Hitler! Hitler!".
But they want changes now that Stephen Hitler finally got himself a majority? Two words for ya, buttercups: SUCK IT! ![Moon [moon]](./images/smilies/action-smiley-081.gif)
