Oh c'mon man. I think you've spent too much time watching FOX and Beck so's you can rip on the US. Watch C-PAC for any length of time. Parliament has been nothing BUT college-level brattishness and hyper-self righteousness for quite some time now. And often times, it fails to reach even high school level.
The only time these days when there's any politeness, respect or decorum in Parliament is when the paid monkeys aren't sitting.

Some "kid" with a few weeks left in her position decides to go out with a "bang" and that bothers you, but the way the actual MPs from ALL parties act while sitting fazes you not at all??
I'm hard pressed to point to any party that could be considered the paragon of decorum in Parliament over the last 20 or so years.

I just can't understand the audacity of this kid, thinking that the lowly people of Canada should be in charge, what gall.
$1:
“This country needs a Canadian version of an Arab Spring, a flowering of popular movements that demonstrate that real power to change things lies not with Harper but in the hands of the people, when we act together in our streets, neighbourhoods and workplaces,” the statement said.
The Arab spring thing is a little off the wall, considering it will bring in no change in that part of the world, but beyond that, I wasn't anymore offended than I am by other childish behaviour in the Commons and Senate.

Senate!!!!

This is the 4th or 5th time I have seen this, and now it should be the last.

Go Google.. or hell, even wiki, Parliament of Canada.

You will see it includes the Senate, the House of Commons, and the GG's office.

For people to call it Parliament isn't wrong.

I'm sorry, I thought it was standard operating procedure to have contempt for the senate among Conservatives.

No no no. It's only SOP when the senate is full of Liberals.

I find it funny that those complaining the loudest about majorities had no problem with Liberal majorities that garnered about the same percentage of popular vote.

I guess our system is fine when the Libs win majorities.

As far as this daft ignorant and rude bimbo goes, she'll make a fine addition to the NDP whenever she decides to join.

According to Thanos, she already has. She was a Jack Layton plant, when he realized ( 4 years or so ago) that he was going to be leader of the opposition. Timed it just right, with her position running out in a few months. Ahh, the Manchurian Candidate comes to mind.  Perhaps it's time for the witch hunt to begin.

Actually, on a serious note,  (yeah, right) if Steve had just laughed it off and invited her over for tea at #24 it would all be gone now. Nobody to support her and no moral indignation for you.

It's the NDP that wants to eliminate the Senate. The Conservatives want to make it elective.

She'll fit right in with the rest of zoo residents in Ottawa regardless of what party she eventually joins.
Anyone under the impression that the Cons and/or Libs were the protectors of respect in Parliament over the last 20-30 years really needs to have their medication re-adjusted.

You must have me confused with someone else. I find her little attention seeking act funny, as well as the left-wing supporters sudden disdain for our system because one of their own is not in power!

Harper initially tried to hold the higher ground, refusing to get involved in the silly little scream fests that seem to be prevalent in the House, only to fall into the mess himself.

Oh, OK, calling her a
$1:
daft ignorant and rude bimbo
was just a personal opinion, not a bit of moral outrage. And you know that she is daft, ignorant (about what exactly) rude and a bimbo. OK. Gotcha!

Actually, I have not shown any new "distain" for our system, I have just about always thought a more representative Parliament would be nice.

No, the disdain is about religious fundamentalist oil tycoons being in power. If it was anyone except the Reform Party, everything would be okay.

I don't actually recall Steve being involved in any of the "scream fests" but sent his minions into the breach instead. Layton has said he will attempt to make Parliament a more civil place. Let's see.

I don't know the numbers but it seems a fair number of Harper's party members are from the "Christian and Missionary Alliance Church". It must be a prerequisite to be a member of any standing in the coven.

So much for the idea of the separation of church and state.

I'm fond of Jack Layton, he has intelligence and integrity but I can't see his presence making Parliament a more civil place. Not if he want to get his point across.
