She's calling for a Canadian Spring, comparing the Canadian government to that of Arab dictatorships. I'd say that comparison makes her pretty fucking stupid. yrah, the Conservatives are a danger to her generation all right, they might make them learn a bit about personal responsibility.....and that's a bad thing.

Stephen Harper teaching about responsibility.. That's awesome.

I don't have a problem with freedom of religion. The only people I see having a problem historically with freedom of religion is the religious. (This concept is likely a bit over your head but nevertheless; fact.)

That's right, the Inquisitions of the Medieval ages blah blah blah. This has NOTHING to do with 2011 Canada.

Once again, separation of church and state does not ban religious individuals from having political power, but rather prevents the State and Church from being involved in the other's affairs.

$1:
As I said Harper is more interested in promoting members of his church, and this is as it seems.

Stephen Harper promoting Conservative party members who are like minded? Damn. Who would have thought. Pray tell, who should Harper put into positions of authority?

Let's rewind to page 1...

Our new speaker of the house.

$1:
[The Bill] is abhorrent to me, to other Catholics and to every member of every faith community … I will, therefore, be voting against this bill … I am proud to be able to do so.

I have faith. And I think he's a douchebag.

The most lucid thing you've said.

Thanks. As the PM who brought us the largest deficit in Canadian history, the largest G20 budget of any nation (during a recession and while having largest deficit in Canadian history) during which performed the largest mass arrest (of peaceful protesters) in Canadian history, who prorogued parliament for the exclusive purpose of keeping power from going to a majority..... What's he going to teach us about responsibility?

Yeah... the Liberals are certainly pillars of respect and political authority.

First correct post you've made here.

Well let's see. Canadian Spring--must be a reference to the "Arab Spring" we have heard about lately. Like I said, she was a bit over the top, unless, ya think, she was just using it as an expression for change. Possibly, although I am sure you won't agree.

No, just a supporter of something different from you.
He also called her a bimbo, so I suspect he feels any woman who disagrees with him has loose morals. More a statement about him than her.

It's over the top in the same way that Mowhawks complain of Canadian government genocide or that Toronto is the centre of the universe. Over the top exeagerations are there for comic relief unless that person honestly believes it, then it's likely they're idiots.

ShepherdsDog @ Sat Jun 04, 2011 5:16 pm

I'm not addressing the bimbo reference, i'm addressing the fact that she hasn't got a clue when comparing what happened in the Middle East and what she wants to happen in Canada, she likely neo hippy epithets for the police too. And no i don't think it was an original comment by her, the dumb fuck, who has likely always led a sheltered and privileged existence, was trying to draw an analogy...she's a Theatre major for christsakes, she's got the intellectual depth of a piece of paper.

It's spelled Mohawk. M-O-H-A-W-K.

The Canadian government (not this government.)as well as the Catholic Church did commit genocide against Canada's Native people. They have admitted to it. It is a fact.
Hardly an exaggeration.

This is partly why I'm just more than a little leery of religion.

Google "catholic residential schools".

Even at that, she has you walloped, hands down.

She is young, talented, educated, gutsy, smart as hell and has integrity. Not bad for being just 21 years old. Pretty good I'd say.

How would you stack up against her I wonder?

"a legal definition is found in the 1948 United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (CPPCG). Article 2 of this convention defines genocide as "any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life, calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; [and] forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."

This would suggest you are wrong... not something that should surprise you and something you should certainly be used to.

Or even remotely correct.

Religion and Harper. You should try and be afraid... less.

ShepherdsDog @ Sat Jun 04, 2011 5:41 pm

The Catholics were equal opportunity diddlers, it wasn't a racial issue. As for the government admitting it took part in genocide, I'd like to see your source for this.

Okay we get it... you want to be more like her. When you grow up, you also might be talented, educated, gutsy, and smart as hell with integrity. Until then, ensure the extent of your political protest against the hated Harper empire is a series of vapid posts on an internet forum.

You are indeed, a political hero!

Sounds like the residential school program to me.
