Zipperfish Zipperfish:
Show me a man who says he's not a hypocrite and I'll show you a hypocrite.

That's almost quote worthy.

As much as I feel for those whose Income depends on it, I just don't think it's so important that we deface the Olympic Athletes by forcing them to protest opposition to it. The Seal Hunt is an Industry we should be seeking to let go and move beyond. Not one we should be using all means to protect.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
Make the flags out of Seal skin!

That would be awesome! All the Flags, including the Olympic Flag.

ROTFL

Athletes should only be used in a political way as ambassadors of our country. Not some specific political role that can create controversy. I say this should be a no go. To suggest this is a terrible act of Parliament.

Like boycotting the '80 Olympics in Russia? 8O Olympic athletes have been used as political pawns as long as there have been Olympics, nothing new here.

Proculation Proculation:
At first I thought it would be a good idea but after thinking about it... that's right: the Olympics are not political. I was thinking of maybe use seal pelt for the hat or another piece of the official clothing.

I agree that the olympics should not be political, that is why the boycotting in the past by some countries, and banning of others, only hurt the athletes and never help politics at all.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
I support the seal hunt, but this would cause one hell of an international environmental protest.

Good. Bring it on.

Ya, why? There are a lot of food industries that kill animals in as cruel a manner. I'm tired of this double standard because these baby seals are cute. If they are going to force the end of the seal hunt they had better be prepared to look at themselves and shut down similarly cruel industries. Sort of like the way the Spanish rape the ocean for profit. Or how about the Japanese and there whale hunt for "research"?

They pick on Canada because we are like the nerdy glasses kids who get picked on by the big boys at recess. What's Canada going to do about it? Talk and bluster like always then accede to their demands eventually.

I find it more interesting that people thing the seal industry is bad in any way shape or form. It's quite the opposite. The only bad thing about it is that it doesn't look pretty.

wear the seal skins and use leftovers to cover up coca-cola, nike and visa signs! [B-o]
