RUEZ RUEZ:
Also if Tricks figures are correct it brought in 14 million in 2005. It appears someone wants this product.
Actually I was wrong, apparently it was 16.5
$1:
The economic value of the seal hunt is another one of those things that is open to interpretation. The federal government says the landed value of seals exceeded $16.5 million in 2005, providing a "significant" source of income for thousands of sealers — benefiting them and their families at a time when, according to the DFO, "other fishing options are unavailable, or limited at best, in many remote, coastal communities."

Who cares?

If they weren't being sold then they wouldn't be paying out that much.

What's the point of killing them then?

What's the point of killing them then?
1. Money
2. Major population control.
3. Cod issues.
4. To drive PETA batshit crazy.
(Not in any order of course

)

There's a demand for it: "The price for a seal pelt soared to $105 on Tuesday, more than double the average price paid last year."

Does it matter? If they are being bought, does it matter who is buying them?

Who's buying them though?
That's the problem. Most are in Europe.

Anyway, the ban they voted won't take effect before next year. By that time, the issue should be resolved via the WTO.

Just wondering if Europeans are buying them yet are most vocal about banning them. Kind of contradictory don't you think? Seal industry in Canada. When's the last time you wore your seal skin loin cloth?

Eeeeh are you saying the government should vote everything interest groups say ?
Then, ban abortion, alcohol, fishing, cars in cities, etc, etc.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean here in context to what I said. Interest groups?? I'm talking about Europe as a whole.
