Canada's military is a joke. NYC Police are war all the time, are bigger than the Canadian military and probably have more fire power.

They just have to send up NYC Police force when they decide invade Canada.

Last time I checked, the NYPD didn't have 60 tanks, 500 APCs, 80 fighter-bombers, or 20 major naval combatants....

A diversified energy strategy would help Canada a lot. It should include nuclear, clean coal, hydro, wind, solar and all others. One thing Canadians have to remember is the tar sands belong to Alberta, not Canada. The natural resources in the land are the sole jurisdiction of the provinces. It's their oil to do with as they please, except as insofar as their action involve interprovincial or international matters (trade, environment etc).

The US economy is much larger than Canada's. I'm not sure exactly, but it's about 12-13 times our size. In a (perfect) free trade environment that means that Canada will end up owning up about 7% of the economy (including natural resources), Mexcio about 5-6% and the balance owned by the US (across the Mexico, Canada and the US).

That might seem depressing, but it's my belief, and there is a lot of hisotry to back this up, that trade is a mutually prosperous enterprise. Also, where money does not cross borders, troops will.

Free trade is the key to prosperity.

The biggest threat, in my opinion, is the socialists in Canada and the neo-conservatives and Democrats in the US who seek to subvert the market through legislative means.

What are you...anti-American?

2 things,

1. RUEZ is definitly ot Anti-American.

2. He is just defending Canadian resources. Nothing to do with hating the US, No one wants to hand over their countries resources to other countries. Except idiots maybe.

He is being Nationalistic and Patriotic here, not Anti-American.

Plus, he's right. Go suck Alaska dry, Leave Alberta alone.

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
You don't have to sell it.

I wouldn't be surprised, :x

Personally if America tried that, I know that any Canadian would stand up for their country, except someone who completely hate Canada (sadly, that'd be 6% of Canadians).

We'd still probably lose and America still wouldn't care, but I can assure you that the Canadians who survived probably wouldn't let America be peaceful and safe for long. Terrorism a problem now? I'm sure an invasion would really dig out that little bit of natioanlism in the Canadians heart out to the point of pure pissed off-ism. Simply taking Canada over for oil and beating us wouldn't end any conflict, ;) And believe me, we'd make the invasion compeltely worthless.

Welcome to Canada!

Take us over, and it'll be the worst desision as a country you ever bloody made.

:D

The US economy is about 11-12 Trillion$ and the Canadian economy is at about 1 trillion.

Put Canadian troops, commanded by German generals, behind the American equipment and Iraq would have been over on day one.

Hope you don't mind the improvement.

The unpolitical, quite amasing. Many fail to notice the implication of a war between Western Countries, or even Democracies. Even if we did cut them off, they wouldnt invade anyone.

But cutting them off would mean sinking the Albertan Economy, unless we already had the infrastructure in place to ship it all to China. But I doubt we do.

I was just making a joke about the U.S. invading Canada with NYPD.

People are bitching about passport requirements when they go to the United States to shop, what if the U.S. closed the border to Canada, period.

We cut oil exports, they cut off trade, our economy tanks.

The United States is an economic giant compared to Canada, and for years Canada has ridden the coat tails of Uncle Sam, I don't see any reason why Canada should change now or any time in the future.

Maybe not, but I am sure the U.S. Government can lend them a few toys.

Nevertheless, NYPD is basically in a war zone 24/7.

My point is Canada military is no bigger than the NYPD police force. The United States wouldn't need worry about invading Canada, they just have to send up the NYPD.

Canada can do nothing to curtail oil exports to the United States, even in the event of an energy crisis.
