You should probably read what I wrote again. Your experience does not determine the experience everyone else has.

True. Not so many people these days have the discipline to work hard and sacrifice today to enjoy the rewards tomorrow.
Thus this topic exists.

Herein lies the problem. Make Post-Secondary about grades and not money, and we'll never see the need to have a post like this again.

Mr. Singer's company provided nothing more than minimal consulting services to our family, like so many other families, with the college application process. Fortunately our kids were able to pick from a number of schools to attend due to their hard work and their merit.
Thanks"

I wish we could say that, part of the investigation and arrests have been in part for cheating on admissions tests. ACT and the SAT's. I throw this in with grades type admissions. These test's are administered in regards to how much you already know/Learned upon leaving High School. Also we would soon hear about High School's and teachers being paid tons of money by rich parents to have their kids grades improved. High School teachers make squat so the temptation to take the money would be far greater IMO
BartSimpson BartSimpson:
It's one thing when endowments and charities are created to provide scholarships or donations to help minorities or talented athletes, many of whom couldn't otherwise afford it, attend higher education. These endowments are up front about what they're doing, and you have people freely choosing to spend their own money towards them. And a lot of the time these endowments hand out money based on merit to students who have to work hard to meet the qualifications and get their degrees.
What rankles everybody here and everywhere else is a bunch of entitled rich people breaking the system to send children who couldn't get admitted to a diploma mill to schools where they won't even take their alleged studies seriously.

Yep, no doubt.
Does anyone here think George W. Bush got into Yale and Harvard because he was smart or because his dad was a war hero and Congressman?
This kind of BS crosses party lines and Thanos nails it right on the head here.
George W. Bush got into Yale in 1964. His father was not elected into Congress until 1966, 2 years later. So much for a Congressman pulling strings for his kid to get into Yale. George H.W. Bush was shot down in WW2 and survived. Thousands of American airmen were shot down during WW2. Hundreds of thousands of veterans had came home from WW2, and Korea. Its not like George H.W. Bush was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, or sunk an aircraft carrier by himself. He was just another face in the crowd in 1962. No one nationally had ever heard of George H.W. Bush in 1962.
You ask if anyone here thinks that George W. Bush got into Yale because he was smart. I say yes. George W. Bush went to high school at Phillips Academy in Andover MA. Phillips Academy is one of the most prestigious prep schools in the world. Its also known as "the pipeline to Yale".
https://www.businessinsider.com/phillip ... nd-yale-13No school as sent more graduates to Yale than Phillips. You see before this cheating scandal the way parents could almost guarantee that their kids went to an ivy league school was to send their kids to a school like Phillips. Daddy's money may have gotten W. into Phillips, but junior still had to put the work in. Phillips is not going to carry anyone. They do not have to. There are thousands of people looking to fill those slots.
Bush was a war hero and
a Yale graduate, so don't tell me that didn't have any influence on Dubya's acceptance, especially when Dubya's SAT scores were a very average 1206 (out of 1600).
http://www.insidepolitics.org/heard/heard32300.htmlIf a 1206 on the SAT is "putting the work in", there are tens of thousands of kids who deserve to go to Yale.
And when Dubya went to Harvard, daddy was a rising star - not only was he a former Congressman, but he was the US Ambassador to the UN.
Sorry, the idea that Dubya, with his C average and lousy SAT scores, got into Yale and Harvard without ANY help are a little far-fetched. Was is fraudulent? Probably not, but I doubt he did it entirely on his own.
It just goes to show that the rich and powerful have been rigging the college acceptance game for a long time.
