Oh...my...God...I saw a promo for this on the FOX News Channel (Bell ExpressVu cuts FOX News' commercial break to do promos for Canadian shows)

I heard this line:

"Canadians have voted to merge with the United States of America"

*dramatic music*

*footage cuts to a picture of Toronto with the Canadian flag coming down and American flag going up*

"The former nation will be drawn up into six new states"

...

I replayed it for five minutes and had to look it up online...what a riot the CBC is.

I bet this will have something to do with the North American Union, so the CBC can further their anti-USA propaganda.

Anyways its a 2 part show, and airs on March 30th in prime time.

I set my PVR to tape the CBC for 3 hours on March 30th...because I think I'll need the laugh.

CBC is the propaganda tool of the liberal fascists and their ilk!

When the CBC tells me it's the 9pm news, I must go outside and verify that it's night. Hell, CBC AM-Radio here in Vancouver gives just traffic reports from Toronto.

I've been digging a little deeper into this and it indeed looks like the Liberal wing of the CBC is timely as ever.

$1:
The subject matter is also particularly timely given the real-life run-up to the U.S. presidential elections - one political aide keeps reminding various players throughout The Trojan Horse that the truth has little to do with who gets elected president; it's all about the best story being spun for the public.

And there are obvious parallels to the fictional Canada-U.S. merger and the increasingly close relationship between Canada and the United States under Prime Minister Stephen Harper. A scene at the beginning of The Trojan Horse, featuring chilling frames of the Stars and Stripes flying atop the Peace Tower, is particularly effective.

"A lot of cosying up is going on as we speak," Gross noted. "This stuff is occurring - there are many discussions about a common perimeter of defence, and we obviously have an energy arrangement so that our oil goes into the States which is beneficial to us now, but isn't necessarily beneficial to us on a permanent basis."

Let me predict that the Canadian faction to lead the union will be an ex-western conservative who runs a emotionally charged wave, possibly with religious overtones. Old time left and centee politicians of course are against it but won't be able to stop it.

It's as predictable as a grade school play.

The main premise of this show seems to be more of an antagonistic move than a thought-provoking move. However, it is just a show afterall and I can enjoy it on the farsical level of fictional TV.

By the way, most westerners do not want to merge with the USA. They just don't fear the USA like some other political factions do.

I've been seeing this promo for a few weeks now. They really know how to play to their audience.

RUEZ @ Sun Mar 30, 2008 2:55 pm

I see the polls haven't been fixed yet.

I for one, welcome our Yankee overlords. Maybe then this fake country can have some meaning

commanderkai @ Sun Mar 30, 2008 5:12 pm

Hey...why the fuck would we be six states? Fuck that! We should be at least 10 states, if not more. We might have only 30 million people but we're a shitload bigger than them

stokes @ Sun Mar 30, 2008 5:24 pm

If this were to actually happen I would leave...I would rather live under communist rule than American. I dont see how anyone can vote YES to this question hypothetical or not. American is the worst thing we could become as we the rightful citizens would get fucked severly!!

America wouldn't want us.

First, the GOP wouldn't want 10 new Democrat-voting states (Okay, 9 excluding Alberta) and the Democrats are too big pussies to annex another country.

Canadaka @ Sun Mar 30, 2008 5:50 pm

I hope someone torrents this, I would like to see it.
