If's meaningless and hopeless; why talk about it?
Not everyone recovers after they've gotten the shit kicked out of them, dude. Not when it happens too often and too many times in a row.

There still exists countries in our world where there is only one option whether you like it or not, though if you enjoy breathing you will like it and worship it.
Just sayin'

Point taken.
But in this country, we seem to have the only options of either name calling petulant children, or incompetent liars.

Just went to cast my vote... the very definition of an "exercise in futility".

Touche. However, life is about getting up when you've been knocked down. We are defined by how we deal with adversity.
Imagine Lenin not taking Marx's teachings and starting the Bolshevik Revolution because it wouldn't have mattered..
Imagine that unknown man who stopped the tank column in Tienanmen in '89.. because it didn't matter, sure it didn't matter then, but he's pretty inspirational now.
Our history is studded with times when, against all odds; we created change.
When the fight seems the most hopeless that's when we must fight hardest.

At a certain point in life a person realizes that all the words are exactly that, just words. Invented out of nothing, and meaning nothing.
Just playing out the season now, the playoff hopes ended quite a while ago. Keeping the stick on the ice just out of reflex, not in any sort of faith.

He's bad off and simply doesn't see the point of it. Him and probably millions of others just like him see it the exact same way. Like me and mine too. None of them give a fuck about us. They never did and they never will. This is what despair does to people when it never relents.
When I was living on minimum wage in the '90s, the one thing I made sure to do was vote in every election.
Anyone who thinks that voting isn't worth their time is a dumbass - they should be reminded of the 'For want of a nail' proverb.

I actually did vote just now, in a riding where the Tory is probably going to win by 15000 - 20000 votes over all the other ones combined.
It is what it is. I merely have no illusions about any of it anymore. The grand Canadian fix is still in, no matter what name or party I put my X next to.

Voted. Pretty sad when you're sitting there with the piece of paper and all you can think is "No matter which one gets the X, I'm not going to feel good about this."

Then you shouldn't feel bad that you had no other choices.
I'm still not hopeful that a candidate from the BQ is running in my riding.

Frankly, I feel more apathetic about it.

At least 50% of the national population should legally change their name to Deacon Blue tomorrow to reflect the number of people who certainly aren't going to come out as the winners in all of this mess. Yeah, it really is getting that bad, and right in front of our eyes too.

We went a couple of hours ago to vote. In and out in 5min. Had to do it this morning as I have to head for work shortly and won't be off until after the polls close.
I strongly suspect that I didn't vote for the one that will win in my riding but nevertheless, I voted anyway. The numbers do matter as, if nothing else, they provide an indicator as to where people are leaning to and could be an influence next time around.
It should be interesting to watch the results tonight.

Cast my ballot a couple of hours ago. We voted on the local reserve and there was long line up of folks waiting to vote which was good to see.
I wonder how high voter turnout will be this year.
