JQR and Jane Philpott both look set to lose their seats to Liberals.

On the Right, Conservative Lisa Raitt looks like she’s about to lose her seat to Liberal and former olympian Adam Van Koeverden

Maxime Bernier loses his seat and PPC gets only 1.6% of the vote nationwide. God riddance to that pile of garbage!

Interesting, Global commentators saying that conservatives need to choose a leader closer to the center. Subtle way of saying cut the social conservatism out?

Sadly, as usual the BQ gets too many seats.

I have to say the election results so far have surprised me a little.

I expected Trudeau to lose more seats than he has, particularly with all the baggage he's accumulated. Jagmeet Singh made an admirable comeback, but so far he's only won about half the seats Mulcair did in 2015. A lot of that can be attributed to his open, classy persona...but like I said several months ago, it's not enough to make up for the time he wasted between becoming leader and getting into Parliament.

Scheer made a big improvement I wouldn't have expected, a roughly 20-seat gain. The Bloc's resurgence also shows how Yves-Francois Blanchet is the real deal. Even the Greens have picked up a few seats.

I'd expect all the federal leaders to be sticking around. Even Singh's showed himself to be a better campaigner than I'd have expected, and I expect the NDP would want to give him a chance at a full leader term.

It's too bad about Jody Wilson-Raybould. She deserved better, though.

On the other hand, Maxime Bernier's political career has come to a humiliating end. Good riddance to bad rubbish!

Looking like the Liberals may lose the popular vote.

Be funny to watch both sides wildly change their opinion on whether or not the popular vote matters if it happens ROTFL

I have always disagreed with them even being recognized as a Federal party since they only represent ONE freaking province in this country and their primary goal is to separate from Canada. What a waste of seats when they couldn't give a shit about the issues that affect Canada.

As I have asked before, where would those votes go if the people in Quebec did not have the Bloc as an option? It could actually make a difference in the overall results.

Also, looks like a big portion of the 905 area was impacted by Doug Ford being premier (according to survey of voters) and a good chunk of that area went Liberal. Could be an interesting result that speaks to what happens in the next provincial election.

Liberal minority courting three hard-left parties for support? Basically the nightmare scenario for those outside the Laurentian Consensus. I can hear the Alberta economy slamming all the doors shut as we speak.

I figured a weakish conservative minority would have been best. Force Trudeau out as leader, bring someone in a little more towards the center, stop any real dumb shit being done by Scheer, and probably a no-confidence 18-24 months in that (might) have seen Scheer out as well. Then having two fresh candidates for both parties.

Now we'll probably only see (hopefully) scheer getting the boot as leader.

Agree. They have no right to be a federal party. They have no platform apart from sovereignty and they don’t run candidates in the rest of Canada.

Happily, that will never happen, so you can be quiet and go back to work.
