Harper acknowledges 'problems' with Canadian economy
Exactly, Derby. He knows damned well that the policies and theories he leans on are the same ones that got the US into such a mess. He also knows how unpopular these types of policies were by the end of the Harris regime in Ontario...maybe that's why we haven't seen a whole of Flaherty on the news. You'd think the Finance Minister would be out there every day with this hitting the news every hour on the hour.
Instead they go after Dion. Harper said some things this morning at his press conference that the fact checkers will be able to tear apart pretty easily.
DerbyX DerbyX:
You are then similiarly offended by all the Beaker-Dion comparisons right?
There's no difference between comparing Bush (or Harper, since they both get it) to Hitler and Dion to a funny Muppet? Sheesh

Nope.
ridenrain ridenrain:
Are you suggesting Harper is to blame for the slow down in the US housing market and the US economy in general?
If his platform is built on the same ideology that he market will regulate itself, less government and less regulation...then yes.
His ticket is bought and paid for by big business interested in tax breaks and the opportunity for profit NOW instead of long term reasonable profit that is good for the economy.
Having industry regulate itself will never work because there will always be those willing to gain a competitive advantage by skirting those rules that others follow voluntarily.
You wonder about the costs of a strong government involved in the proactive regulation of the market...it can't be any more than the cost of the problems at Maple Leaf, the costs of the cleanup of the neighbourhood blown to bits in Toronto or the trillions of dollars that vanished from our investments, savings and pensions...never mind the billions of dollars of bailouts that the American taxpayer is giving to companies that were posting record profits less than 24 months ago.
So ya, Harper and his kind are to blame.

Yet our government just changed mortgage rules in order to prevent a similar problem. Does that sound like the same ideology?
Nope. I'm outa here. Can't fight Team-Tinfoil.
The Liberals or NDP should win the election and then get creamed for a slowing of world economy.
Then we can put all you lefty doomsayers to bed.

I'd agree but then we'd get more GST and a carbon tax and I'm not willing to accept that.

Yes but it would be fun whilst it lasted.

The carbon tax the Liberals are proposing won't cost you anything and Dion has said several times that he has no intention of raising the GST.

Actually, similar small and ineffective changes were made in the US not long before the meltdown started, so yeah, it sounds an awful lot like the same ideology.

Then you have no reason to complain about such comparisons fromHarper and nor do you have any reason to bitch at Blair for investing so much energy into political posting all the while you ignore ridens obsessive compulsion concerning the Libs.

Take a look at the previous photos and tell me where that happened?
If you want to bitch and complain about that type of political satire then apply it equally.
rarely do I hear you complain about the ad naseum comparisons of the Liberals to commies, terrorists or mafia cartels.

Actually I'll do as I please.

BTW, so will Blair do as he pleased but you felt you had reason to bitch about him putting to much energy into political posts so if you don't mind I'll do the same to you thank you very much.

Actually I didn't bitch, like you do every day. I asked him if he ever get's sick of talking politics. I'm sorry you can't understand that. I also didn't bitch about the picture, I made a snide remark. Why don't you go back to blaming the cons for everything and praising the Liberal party for everything like you usually do.
