Harper tells Toronto to Kiss His Albertan Ass
$1:
To pay for their promises, the Tories will scrap child-care deals signed with the provinces over the last year by the Liberals, a move saving $4.8 billion.
That has sparked concern in Toronto where officials worry about the impact on new daycare centres that are just opening — and relying on the federal funding.
But yesterday, Harper suggested it was the city's tough luck.
"I'm not responsible for the City of Toronto budget ... The agreements the federal government signed are only guaranteed funding for one year," Harper said.

Well there's a real shocker, Harper doesn't give a shit about the economy of Canada's largest city.
Almost as if his only care is Alberta or something.

The Conservatives want to reduce the role of the federal government by downloading as much as possible to the provinces. Municipalities are a provincial concern in Mr. Harper's eyes therefore they are none of his concern.

Yes, and to keep Alberta money in Alberta he needs to give every province the same deal. The poorest provinces would get poorer and the richest provinces will get richer.

Well c'mon.... who does?

About 2.5 million Torontonians and about another 2 million Canadians that live in the Greater Toronto Area.
Or about 1/6th of Canada's entire population.
Afterall, we are the centre of the universe and Canada's most important city
That's who..
Just behind Halifax and Vancouver
Harper sounds like a....nah I won't go there, I might start some flames. lol
Anyway, I really hope Harper and his cronies don't win the election. Otherwise the Canada I come back to in a few years is going to be drastically different than when I left.
As was already said, cities are a Provincial area of responsibility. Any infringement on the Provinces will reap a whirlwind of hassle, especially from our chums in New France.
Oh and it might be different when you get back from visiting Escotia dimoreien old chap, but it will definitely be better than Scotland.
I don't know about that. My quality of life hasn't suffered at all by living in Scotland.
Granted, I wait to come to Canada for visits to get my teeth cleaned.

We need tax cuts and it doesn't look like any party is going to be allowed to do so by the people . The pressure is too strong on tax needs . If we don't do something soon we are going to pay $2000.00 just for a cup of coffee

You have an awfully good point according to a freind who said a toaster is almost a luxury because a flat is so damn expensive and TV and phone is stretching it .

The Fed's have been telling Toronto to stop the crying for years. Where's all that money the Liberals promised for the waterfront?

Seriously, your friend is right. Most people I know don't even have a land line in their place, they have a cell phone cause it's cheaper.

Thank-you. I have said that very thing time and time again. I paid far more taxes when I lived in England and Australia then I pay here and I make much more money here.
