MPs topple Liberal government, trigger election
PJB @ Mon Nov 28, 2005 7:13 pm
Does anyone truly believe that this election is going to change one damn thing? We will hear countless promises and then after the election, which is over before the polls even close in Manitoba, we will be right back to the same ole same ole. How much taxpayers money will be spent to put the same bunch of idiots in the same damn seats.

I don't think that it will make a huge change...But one can always hope, right?
I think that this will force the Liberals to choose between left and right. Before, our political spectrum was pretty close...Now Canadians are more polarised to either the right or the left. This could be pretty big in the long run.

As the left goes further left to the NDP, the the right to the Conservatives, the Liberals stand to lose on both ends.
Why do you need a left-of-center-but-still-middle-of-the-road party?

To a certain extent,
yes, they're all yahoos. But to a certain extent,
so are we.

Too late to dump Martin. Maybe if they had done it a couple of months ago so there was time for a new leader to become known to people maybe.
You couldn't have had just a "Martin's heir" as PM.
You would need an outsider to wrest control.
There must be a Brutus in the Liberal party somewhere.
Bonehead er Bono
please take a minute from what you are doing....bow your head in silence, repeat after me.....the Paul Martin Government has been toppled!
Now, will Ontario be smart enough in the next election and not vote Liberal?
TheGup @ Mon Nov 28, 2005 7:48 pm
If you look at an actual election map, there are more ridings in Ontario that vote Conservative than in any other province.
I also think that the Conservatives will start to infiltrate the GTA. I think they can get back Newmarket - Aurora...Most voters here are enraged at Ms. Stronach. I can also see them gaining on the outer fringes, in places such as Lancaster, Oakville, and Burlington.

In my opinion this election will be like political drano on a parlement that as been plug for too long. All leader (except for Gilles Ducept) stand to loose their leadership. If the parlement doesn't change that much in seat Paul martin and harper are toast. They have to do better in order to maintain there leadership.
In conclusion this election is necessary in order for English Canada to find a strong leader.

Nope.
In February, same crap, smaller power base, and $10bn more for Quebec.
Just in time for the Carnival. It'll be great!

Then the 2 leaders will fight to the death to see who wins, by trial of combat, the kingdom of Kanada!
(ok. it's not accurate but it would be a lot more exciting )

It's hard to say.
Martin is better trained and has better connections. ---On the other hand,
if the party starts to think that they are soon going to have to get rid of him anyway, then they won't really support him now.
There's an old phrase, that someone "has the stink of death on them", if Martin begins to get that stink, then he's as finished as baseball in Montreal.
