And for those who are wondering....CBM will never run out. There's too much coal buried under Canada.
It wont run out in my lifetime or yours, your kids, grandkids,or their kid's.

Last time I checked, creating jobs helped the economy. Part time jobs included. Also this was just a month, next month = more jobs. Maybe even full time jobs? Either way, it shows the jobs are increasing and not decreasing which is a good thing.
Except the outlook isn't for more jobs or full time jobs, it's for less jobs and lower wages. Some of us have lived through this before...the last time there was a Conservative government in Ottawa. They replace full time with two part time and save themselves the cost of providing benefits. They downsize and force people into temporary contract positions. They bust unions, reduce employee protection in labour legislation and push wages down. While they're doing it they tell us how great we're doing and how lucky we are.
So while part-time jobs may be better for the economy than no jobs at all, they are worse for workers. So the question becomes who is the economy for if it isn't for the people trying to make a living.

The point that should be standing -
~95% of the jobs created last month were part-time jobs... and we're supposed to be thrilled with this supposed proof that the economy is booming?

This isn't a case of "part time jobs included"... it's more the other way around.
As Brenda said, a part-time job is good for a second income, but it's nothing youcan live on. You don't make enough money and you're not eligible for benefits or stat holidays. And as someone else said - sometimes it means you're ineligible for EI retraining programs.
Right, so you would prefer to have a straight job lose rather then that additional income as a option? Because as far as I am concerned, part time is still a income and contributes to the economy and not all those jobs were part time just a majority of the percent.
If I got laid off, I would love to atleast work at TimHortons part time rather than sit on my ass all day watching TV and atleast contributing a income for something. Because most people who get laid off do not bounce back right away, infact for some it takes thems over a year to find a new job depending on what field they are trying to apply for. Those people can really use a part time job to contribute while they are job hunting.
So maybe to you with you having a job that pays the bills already, a part time job increase would seem like nothing but you can't say the same for those who don't have a current steady income coming in and have bills and rent to pay.

Never ending bud, wherever there is coal there is CBM.
And that's pretty well everywhere in N. America.

Just a majority of the percent....
WTF? 92% of the new jobs were part time jobs.
92%.
Yeah, and isn't that a majority? So what's the problem with what I said?
lily you gotta think that this is just one month right. The following months if there is still a increase, there isn't a garantee that the jobs are just going to multiply as part time. There can be more full time jobs. Either way, the jobs are increasing and not decreasing which is a good thing.

Jobs always go up for the most part because our population is increasing. What has been ignored is the snails pace increase in economic growth which has been less then half what it was the last few years.
In addition, the sky high gas prices drove inflation above the basic cost of living increase in pay which meant less money.
Finally, part-time jobs are a very lousy job creation stat. They often mean the people still qualify for benefits and they often mean the people are simply treading water making ends meet. They are unable to save any money and certainly unable to take advantage of those savings packages Harper brought out.
They are mostly low-paying unskilled labour that is actually a drain on govt coffers rather then a benefit to.

In my own field I see 2-3 new listings per day. That doesn't change the fact that we simply don't have enough MLTs to fill all those positions.
It also doesn't mean that part-time jobs added aren't stellar news or that offering jobs with nobody to fill them changes anything.
I surprised at you turing a blind eye to Harpers obvious bribe attempt. You say you are non-partisan and above that sort of thing yet thats exactly the thing that should turn your stomache.

My dog loves polls and will work for food. I am sure he can handle that difficult job.

Derby;I have some topics from 5 years ago and I get pm's from folks asking for work still,as I have a few contacts I try and help out by sending them websites or phone numbers.
I have a good success rate and should be in a different line of business(recruiting)but I just like to see guy's get job's.I like to see people working,it give's them something to feel good about and as camp manager in Nunavut I talked to lot's of Easterners, heard their story's and some of them blew me away.
I mean really blew me away.
