I'm not really concedeing defeat, per se... I'm just not going to be consciously gunning for ya. Go Leafs! lol

After trying my best to create a roster where half the players don't look like they belong in a disability ward (can you say Daniel Halfdedson?), this Sunday I get another piece of bad news. According to Yahoo's "News and Notes", Brent Sopel is listed as injured due to an unspecified foot injury. The prognosis, according to Yahoo, is that he'll be out for 6 - 8 weeks. Despite the fact he has been my most reliable D-man, I decide to cut my losses and release him.

Come Tuesdays game against the Rangers, Sopel is not only on L.A.'s roster but he scores two goals (including a power play marker and the eventual game winner), has a plus-2 outing, and I'm out 8.4 points. Then to top it off, Sopel has been claimed off of waivers by another team.

AAAAGGGHHHH!!!!!!!

If there's a prize for "Most Snake-Bitten Manager", I've got to be the odds on favourite.

Things will pick up. Some of your players have just had slow starts, Alfredsson and the rest will get it together soon enough.

Don't trust News&Notes, don't cut a player until he has been moved to Injured Reserve and even then you can position a player 'IR' and draft a player to take his place until he is healthy. Sometimes it is best to keep a good player even if he can't play for a month.

Last year someone dropped Martin Ruzinsky while he was on Injured Reserve so I picked him up, positioned him IR because I didn't have any injured players and when he became active again he was a real assest to my team.

Patience....

As for Alfredsson and Ottawa, rumor has it there is going to be a shakeup soon. Same in Calgary...

Until this morning I didn't realize you could have more than one player on IR. Good thing, cause Henrik Tallender has just been added to my IR list.

Thanks for the encouragement. I have a good feeling about my roster as it stands now (excluding one hopeless Swede - whom I can't cut). I may even begin to claw my way out of the basement. One bloody rung at a time.

I wish I had more time to have looked after my team. The auto draft didn't do to bad but I would have made a couple of moves sooner and I wouldn't have missed a few days of having nobody playing. Doubt I'll make it to the penthouse but hopefully I can claw my way up a few spots.

Uhm 1 thing I have learned from Yahoo..
1> Don't trust Yahoo.
2> Guys from Yahoo's sports department know nothing about sports.

Following
things have happened to me:

NBA Player Stromile Swift reported having an ACL tear out for season wrongly reported another player named swift from ANOTHER TEAM.

NFL RB DeShaun Foster reported as leaving a game with a serious knee injury.. turned out to be D Williams the back up running back.

NHL From goalie to players these guys don't know the sport... so they will make horrendous errors. Always check NHL.com or TSN.ca..

Like I said Yahoo's sports department is about as reliable as Fox news is for politics,,lol

hmmmm
So here's the question you have one of the ottawa triple threat speeza, heatley or alfie.. or even thorton or cheechoo from SanJose these are all guys capable of getting 100 points in a season... why would you even think for a moment that you could do better by picking a kid who is really hot now... but in 30 games from now will drop off the leaders board.. It's a LOOONG season.

Regina @ Thu Nov 02, 2006 9:45 am

Not only that but they play better after getting traded. Hmmmmm!!
