Ummmm...I still have more guns than fly rods, but I am narrowing the gap...

They are matching rods, kinda....She got a 4wt and I picked up an 8wt, same series though.

This afternoon the Grande Prairie Storm looked to get back to their winning ways after they had been soundly beaten on Friday night in Olds by a score of 5-0.
Today they took on the Calgary Canucks in their last game before the Christmas break.
It sure sounded like it was a fairly close game throughout but in the end....

Good to see the boys rebounded from their loss and got on that next winning streak...

Well, that's it for the 2009 part of this season...see ya in 2010!

GO STORM!!!!!

Ice fishing, at least in this cold weather. :)

And oh yea, by the way, Remparts rule.

They have been doing pretty good.

The Christmas break is about to come to an end and the Grande Prairie Storm are going to get back into the swing of things with two of the toughest teams in the AJHL.

The Storm are second overall in the AJHL and their first game after the break is Saturday night against the Camrose Kodiaks. Camrose is first in the southern division and third overall in the AJHL, just one point back of Grande Prairie. The first meeting between these two teams was back in September with the Storm winning 5-3.

On Sunday afternoon the Storm travel to the Grant Fuhr Arena to take on the league leading Spruce Grove Saints. The Storm lost their first two meetings with the Saints back in October, but that was a very different Storm team then the one that takes to the ice now. The Storm face the Saints three times in January and will be the gauge the team is measured by.

The Storm have won 23 of their last 26 games and finished off before the Christmas break with a 5-3 win over the Calgary Canucks.

It sounded like it was a pretty wild finish to the game tonight in Camrose. After regulation, the game was tied at 2-2. They played 5 minutes of 4 on 4 OT and it solved nothing. Camrose goaltender having to make a couple good stops to keep them alive. Then, 5 minutes of 3 on 3 OT with both teams getting some great chances and either the iron being the goaltenders best friend, or the goalie just standing on their heads to make the saves. So with both OT solving nothing, the first game after the Christmas break ends......

GO STORM!!!

Awww the storied franchise of the AJHL the Kods.

I should go up and see the new building, but after doing about 60 trips up there including play offs in one season, I can't get exited about doing another one. 8)

It would be nice to get pictures of that new arena, and while you're there, you might as well take in a game, and while you're at the game, you might as well take some pictures of the action.....It's just a thought...just a thought...

I looked up the histories of many of the teams in the AJHL when I first got here and started to take an interest in the AJHL. Yeah, the Kodiaks are a team with quite the record over the years.

Here's a picture I pulled from the RD paper from last nights Rebel's game. It looked like a fairly tight checking game.

We had a nasty injury in the OHA this week. 1st year linesman got a little over-zealous in breaking up a fight. Now, word is, all officials are going to have to wear throat protectors starting in the playoffs. Guess I'll be making a trip to the sports store this week.

That is a nasty injury. I hope the ref is okay.

With what sounded like a pretty chippy affair in Spruce Grove, The Grande Prairie Storm were beaten by the Spruce Grove Saints for the third time this year.

Not the best way to start off the 2010 portion of the season with a tie then a loss. The Storm are back home next weekend for a pair of games Friday and Saturday night. Sure hope they rebound off this loss and earn a couple W's

Word in the OHA community is, unfortunately, that Kevin is not going to be okay. It's maybe a bit premature, but the word I got at the arena tonight is that he's suffered significant brain damage as a result of the blood loss and is not expected to make it. I hope can update with some better information in the coming days. :(

I hope your update is of much better news Lemmy. We're all pulling for him.
