JFJ is WAY too afraid to make any deals involving Mats..he'll settle for bringing back former Leafs and slipping further and further from contention.

Get rid of Mats .. hmm certainly.. yes Grand Idea let him go to a cup contender rather than a mediocre pretender.

I'm here. Making rounds around the Hockey Forum, noticed this thread.

I'm sorry Sundin, you are, or rather, were, one of the greatest Hockey Players ever, but now, as you wish to enter your 13th season as a Toronto maple Leaf, I think for the sake of this team... You should be demoted from Captain and given much less ice time, if not traded or retired.

I propose Tucker as captain.

why would you get rid of your best player he has lead the leafs in points and goals for years i dont think JFJ wants his team to sink lower then they already are who cares how old he is who still produces points

I agree, he plays his heart and soul for the team, he likes it there, let him stay. Getting rid of your best player won't create the Leafs into a cup contender. Rather address the problems that the team obviously has. Namely goaltending (if Nabokov crashes) defense and secondary scoring. They tried to address that with Blake but he aint doing to great this year although he is getting better. Perhaps better coaching.

Finally someone agrees with me:)

I have never really been on the Matts band wagon but I have to give the devil his due. He has scored a point on average for every game he has played his whole career. I just don't feel the guy at playoff time, he is statistically decent but he is my size and I would like to see some Stevie Y grit.

Sports_Master2008 @ Sat Jan 05, 2008 3:53 pm

yea he plays really good add more body checking and you got more points cause it will give the leafs more opportunity to score

Tman1 @ Sun Jan 06, 2008 11:49 pm

I might add the guy's practically a hall of famer already with over a thousand points with consistent points but yeah, get rid of him.....
