RCMP TABLES SHOW SHORTAGE OF 1,059 OFFICERS
Yet Anne McLellan states: “Currently, there are no unfulfilled requests for RCMP officers.”
Ottawa – Monday, in the House of Commons, Public Safety Minister Anne McLellan tabled her response to written question Q-176 stating: “Currently, there are no unfulfilled requests for RCMP officers.” She then went on to provide three pages of tables (see link below) that show a net shortage (‘variance’) of 1,059 RCMP officers across Canada. The tables show shortages of RCMP officers in every province including: British Columbia 281 officers; Ontario 139; Quebec 134; Alberta 85; Saskatchewan 44; Manitoba 41; New Brunswick 36; Newfoundland and Labrador 35; Nova Scotia 30; and the N.W.T is short 14 RCMP officers.
“This reminds me of a similar ridiculous statement made by this Minister where she claimed there wasn’t a DNA backlog, but in fact 1,043 requests for DNA analysis were still waiting for processing,” remarked Garry Breitkreuz. “She’s misleading the House in the same way this time. She claims there is no shortage of officers, when her department’s own figures show there is a huge shortage of RCMP officers across the country.”
McLellan’s tables also showed a shortage of RCMP officers to fulfill provincial contracts at 278 members; municipal contracts at 80 members; and 701 officers were needed to meet federal law enforcement responsibilities across Canada.
“Once again, the Liberal party and the Minister in particular show a reckless and arrogant disregard for the need to protect the public through an increased presence of front-line RCMP officers. Their priorities are so ridiculously out of step with the growing realities of increased violence, smuggling and crime generally, that one has to ask what will it take for this government to come to its senses,” said Peter MacKay.
“Years of RCMP budget cuts have taken their toll on Canadian communities,” said Vic Toews. “It is time for the Minister to quit denying the critical shortage of RCMP officers and take responsibility for her failure to have sufficient officers in place to meet the demands of public safety.”

Hey, thats GREAT!!! 1059 less donut eating, coffee guzzling, lazy cop's to give me a ticket!!!!
So instead of a starlight tour to Stanley park for a beat down, we can bus all the addicts to you're part of downtown Canada?
I'd even like to see more cops doing traffic. If I do something dumb and get caught, that's my fault. If some retard in a car does something dumb he could kill me.
I live in a town with a population of ten thousand, you can keep your addicts, sounds like you have allot of them, are the police doing anything about this?
What I am reffering to is the fact that there has been a bunch of break and enters around here, homes, businesses and such, and the RCMP are always on the radio and TV lecturing the public on 1 thing and 1 thing only--- traffic violations. It seems to me that there are bigger problems than petty traffic violations, maybe the police around here could do a little more for the community and do something about the real problems and not worry so much about guys like me doing 15 kms over the speed limit.
I ride a motorcycle so I am very crytical to morons in traffic. While I would rather not see as many speed traps, I'd gladly accept them if it got a small slice of the retards off the road. I don't know where you are but Vancouver has some of the biggest loosers ever put behind a wheel.
As for our Front Page News:
B.C. police losing battle against crime
Crime rising faster than number of officers, study shows
Police officers in B.C. have seen their workload more than double over the past 40 years as the hiring of new officers has failed to keep up with rising crime and mounting paperwork, according to a new study being released today.

Well, after driving in the Middle East for over 14 months I can drive with full confidence anywhere in Canada. Yes, there are allot of bad drivers out there. Thats why we take defensive driving courses. I think the police are looking at just doling out speeding tickets as a source of revenue. They should be trying harder getting drugs, hookers, and thieves off the streets. And where I live is full of bad drivers, but I just keep my eyes open and pay attention to everything that is going on around me. I am not the bad guy and I do not need the police harassing me about the way I drive, they could use their time allot better by finding and charging real criminals.

Good point Gangler. There should be more cops working the Bait Car program and drug distribution beats than pulling over speeders.

No deaths are caused by break and enters, and the cost in stolen goods is minimal compared to the costs incurred through poor driving habits. Deaths, injuries, missed time at work, lawsuits, increased insurance costs, thousands of dollars damage to cars involved in even minor collisions....

No, deaths are not caused by B&E, why? Because we are not allowed to protect ourselves. I have a 12 guage sitting right beside my bed, if ANYBODY tries to break into my house than there is gonna be a death, cause I am gonna blow somebody's fucking head off. If the police clean up the streets first than they will have more time to take care of small things like people speeding. (which is unimportant)
And, Ripcat, think of this, if you would.... drugs on the steets, ummmm, do people overdose on drugs? Do people BREAK AND ENTER to steal items to sell to get more drugs? Do people who are "jonesing" do anything to get their next fix? Yes, they do! Does this make the crime rate higher? According to you, it does not. Illeagal guns sold to thugs to rob stores, is this a problem? Not according to you, Ripcat. Are you a police officer? Why defend these coffee swilling pigs who don't do a thing to "Serve and Protect"
And by the way, inurance costs for home owners and business owners is on the rise because of theft and B&E, but you did not think of that, did you?

Norway sucks!!! Go home.
And yes, you read the whole thing, ya whore.
And attitudes like yours are why people want gun control.
And I'll bet the key for the trigger locks are in your pocket at all times.

Someone reported an abandoned vehicle on my street the other day and it happened to be a red truck. There was 5 on the main street so they ran my plate first(heard all this later from someone with a scanner)anyway they even went into my truck and left me a memo on my seat,The box with "doors left open" was checked. Guess this is their way of letting me know my doors were left open(I was transfering stuff into my house at the time),maybe I should have left the alarm armed and scared the shit outta them.

I wasn't disputing the fact that some cops may spend too much time in the coffee shop...I was disputing your comment that traffic violations aren't important.
How many people/children travel in cars at 100 km/h compared to how many people/children are 'jonesing' for their next fix?
Punk kids don't break in when you are home. More people die in car accidents daily than die from home invasions in a year.
Innocent people die in car accidents, drug addicts OD'ing only kill themselves. To my knowledge there is no law against OD'ing.
It doesn't matter how many officers you have, you won't stop the drug trade if the drugs are already in the country so you won't be able to stop 'jonesing' addicts from committing crimes.
My home insurance is $65 dollars a month, $15 higher than normal because I have a wood stove. The insurance on my 2005 car is about $120 a month. Yes, I have a clean driving record and I'm a preferred client with my insurer. Please explain to me why my car insurance is twice the cost of my home insurance when the house and its contents are worth 15 times the value of my car which is losing its value daily.

Hey Lily, have I told you to fuck off lately? You are so full of shit yer eyes are brown. You have nothing to say here so shut your fucking yap! If I wanted to hear from an asshole I would fart. If I wanted any shit from you I would squeeze your head.
Yes, you dumb fuck stick, I have a gun right beside my bed, but it is locked and I have a trigger lock on it. Did I say otherwise? And, FYI, I have had guns my whole life, so has my family, and we have never killed our own. Have you? Man, the inbredding in your family causes you to kill your own? Hey, that "incest is best, keep it in the family" was NOT to be taken literally, Lily, it was just a saying, but I guess it is too late to abort, isn't it?
TheGangler TheGangler:
Norway sucks!!! Go home.
And yes, you read the whole thing, ya whore.
Way to go on representing Canadian ideals of acceptance and multi-culturalism there, buddy.
And I just loved your intelligent rebuttal to Lily's post. Full of grace, charm, civility, deep thought, politeness, logic and intelligence.
Let me guess, I need to fuck off right now, right?
ziggy @ Fri Nov 18, 2005 7:44 pm
and someone broke in then they would have to deal with the X.
Ask HER where the trigger lock is.
