Yes, absolutely, we need more police, and it is MY OPINION that we need them to do more about the serious problems and not the petty stuff. They should be doing check stops, get the drunks off the roads, bust the dangerous drivers, but going over the speed limit by 10-20 kms is not that big a deal.

I live on a residential street in a nice neighborhood. The speed limit is 30 km/h. So if I understand you 40 or 50 km/h thru this area is as you say "no big deal"? I invite you to take your young children to the end of your driveway leave them there to play
and then go up the street with your car, cruise past them at 20 over the posted limit. See if it is "no big deal" then.

The responsibility that comes with having a drivers license means that you must have sound judgement and make good decisions. I wouldn't say that in every 30km/h zone, it is unsafe to go a little faster. You are supposed to be the judge of that. And anyone who lets their children play remotely close to the street should have their head examined.

Chopper, you are arguing not because you have any valid points you are arguing because you like to see your senseless words on the internet. I can drive fast and I can drive defensively. If it were as bad as you say when it comes to speeding than NO speed limit in Canada should exceed 20 kilometres an hour.

And I will bet that you are the most law abiding citizen in Canada, aren't you, Chopper? You have never broken any laws especially speeding, never would you do such a thing.

LABBATTS50 @ Wed Nov 23, 2005 11:01 am

So kids playing the traditional road hockey have weird parents? I guess they should stop them immediately and insist they do drugs instead of playing hockey.
Are you saying that the posted speed limit is there as a suggestion of what might be safe, if you so judge it, you can go faster?

IcedCap @ Wed Nov 23, 2005 11:05 am

The problem is a lack of training facilities, there's plenty of willing RCMP recruits. Can't see that being something that can be rectified quickly either.

SonOfSam @ Wed Nov 23, 2005 11:08 am

Yeah, allot of kids play street hockey on the highway. Why do they call it street hockey when in fact it should be called highway hockey? If the police can judge my ability to drive according to road conditions than why can I not judge my ability to drive on a dry road on a nice day?

If you tell your kids to stop playing highway hockey than you are a good father, your children should not be playing on the highway anyways.

Wow.......what are you??? Mr Goody-Goody???? Never gone over the limit a little? I highly doubt it. You didn't say play road hockey either................you said "I invite you to take your young children to the end of your driveway leave them there to play.....". Now you're going to introduce them to drugs????? You're cracked!!

I'm not saying that the posted limit is a suggestion, just that in MY OPINION I feel that there are situations in which you may go a little faster. YOU must be the judge of how much faster.

Nice come back. That's all you could think of to say??? I really shouldn't be surprised........from reading your other posts here I can see that they reflect your intelligence level. But I'll tell ya what..................I'll give ya one more chance before I make you look stupid again.

SonOfSam @ Wed Nov 23, 2005 11:22 am

Labbatt, you are cracked. You do not know what you are arguing about. Maybe you played too much hockey without a helmet. The way you and chopper carry on one would think that you two are the most law abiding citizens, you guys can do no wrong. You have never broken any law in your life.

LABBATTS50 @ Wed Nov 23, 2005 11:29 am

Cracked? Wow you guys are quick witted. If you feel the need to speed, then do so, just don't trash the cops for pulling you over, as for myself, yeah, I do follow the law, I have seen firsthand what speed does, I have also seen first hand what sexual assaults, break and enter ect does to victims.

What exactly does playing hockey with no helmet on have to do with the Police? I see your way of discussing a difference of opinions is to launch personal attacks. Very mature

SonOfSam @ Wed Nov 23, 2005 11:38 am

Yeah, you have seen it ALL, haven't you? Can you please tell me why I can legally drive 100 kilometres an hour on the highway but only 60 kilometres an hour when entering a provincial park? Same highway, no gates, no extra traffic, all I have done was crossed an imaginary line into a park, whats the difference?

Do you drive below the speed limit Labbatt? Do you live your life in fear?

LABBATTS50 @ Wed Nov 23, 2005 11:47 am

Actually, yes everything we've discussed here, yes I have.

Ummmm because the law says so. Feel free to live outside though if you feel the need.

This started out as shortages of PC's, then you ranted about not liking the fact they took coffee breaks from their 12 hour shifts and has now turned into an personal attack on me because of my opinion, which I am entitled to. Your bud from NFLD jumped in long enough to call me an idiot basically and now here we are.

Well if you have firsthand experience, then you would agree that there is a problem? You just don't agree with what the problem is?

I never said here that there was no problem, Sammy is fixated on this speed thing. He never responded to my post where I explained what uniformed patrol basically consisted of.
