Let me get this straight then because Sweden stayed neutral in the WW the people who live there Now have no say in what they think about Canadians being in Afganistan.? Like OPP ?Why not? I thought this Canadian Forums were for every body? From every country? OPP should not be blamed for what happened in the past .I like the different viewpoints from OPP personally.

ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL and you telling me to f*ck off, 'cause I was not Canadian!

Plus the Dutch Army is kicking ass in Afghanistan. Unlike the rest of Euro NATO. I'll take a Dutch point of view on this topic.
But I won't take a view from a total pinky who comes from a country who's known for refusing to get involved while the world around it was invaded by Nazis, or the threats from the old Soviet Union.
Sweden has no credibility on these matters. Holland does.

I haven't seen their point of view on this thread...Have you???I have seen OPP'S only, the "people" from Holland never said one thing about Afganistan. They were on here to joust me from what I can see.

"The people from Holland" have made comments in threads about lost soldiers. So if you just think before you start babbling, you might come up with the fact that "the people from Holland" support their troops, and fight along with Canadian troops.

Just to make a point here if I want some one from Hollands' thoughts on this I will ask my brother in law whose parents were from Holland. I respect OPP'S as well and from what I read she made a lot of sense to me.I have another friend who has parents from Hong Kong and I would respect their input as well.

This thread, sweety, is a poll. I don't vote in polls concerning Canadian politics, as you might have noticed.
Since when does everyone have to comment on a thread first before someone can post on anything said in this thread?

And you think nothing has changed in the past, what, 50 years? Sure, we here in Holland are stuck in the stone age

You need to read up these things before you post. The Dutch Army fights alongside the Brits and Canadians. The Dutch have provided tactical air support as well as the Chinooks we sold them in the early 1990's (Cheers Brian!)

It was not that long ago that Holland's army had the capability to kick Canada's butt.

Holland own more modern tanks(leopards) and lots of them. Their equipment was first rate and our guys were patching 40 year old centurians.

In co-operation with the Brits, Holland developed Goal-keeper, a gun solution to naval missile point defence while the Brits developed SEA WOLF....a naval missile point defence solution.

Can someone remind me who funded, trained and supported the Taliban fighting against the Soviets?

I'll give you three guesses and it wasn't Castro, Chavez, Saddam or Kim Jong-il.

Need another hint? The same people who trained Saddam and Noriega.

The same people who fought WITH Osama against the Soviets in Afganastan....

The same group who installed the the brutal dictator Pinochet in Chile...

So who's bitch are we?

Never made a mistake I guess eh Donny? Never had to side with someone you didn't like to go against something you hated more?

ShepherdsDog @ Mon Jul 09, 2007 9:08 pm

The mujahadin received funding from the Americans. It was an umbrella organisation that had many groups, whose only commonality was fighting the Russians and the government in power. What became the Taliban were only a small group, who eventually rose to prominence, inm the ensuing power vacuum, after the Russians left and the government was defeated.

As to ungrateful.....free housing, free medical, free education, tax free status.........hmmmmm.
