And today EU leaders signed the withdrawal agreement:

$1:
The heads of the European Commission and Council - Ursula von der Leyen and Charles Michel - have signed the Withdrawal Agreement, ahead of the UK's exit from the EU on 31 January.

The Queen approved it on Thursday, and next Wednesday the European Parliament is expected to vote for it too.

The UK has agreed to abide by EU rules during a transition period until the end of the year. By 2021 the UK aims to have agreed a deal on future ties.

Brexit ends 46 years in the EU club.

After the document was signed in Brussels it was taken to Downing Street by EU and UK officials, for signing by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, due later on Friday. The agreement will then travel back to Brussels, and a copy of it will remain in London.

Next week's European Parliament vote is seen as all but a formality, after it was backed by the parliament's constitutional affairs committee on Thursday.

The UK delegation left the EU Parliament yesterday and as they left one of the contemptuous little douchebags who runs the Parliament made clear why the Brits needed to leave the EU.

Damn, sorry.

Look up You Tube for "Brexit European Parliament" and you should find Farage's going away speech and the shitty response to the Brits waving their flags.

Up until now I did not know the EU Parliament outlawed the display of member state's flags.

The EU god is a jealous god and it only allows one flag.

The EU response to the Brexit? Put an end to democracy and make sure that no else is allowed to escape!!!!

$1:
Senior Member of European Parliament Guy Verhofstadt has made the extraordinary assessment that the lessons to be learnt from Brexit is for Brussels to push for ‘More Europe’ and to take away even more democracy from nation-states.

Speaking ahead of the European Parliament’s vote on the UK-EU withdrawal deal on Wednesday, Mr Verhofstadt rejected the notion that the lesson to be learnt from Brexit is to devolve power back to the nation-state but to give more power to Brussels.

The former Belgian prime minister said: “This lesson, dear colleagues, is not to undo the union, as some are arguing. The lesson is to deeply reform the union. To make a real union in the coming years.

“That means a union without opt-ins, opt-outs, rebates, exceptions, and above all without unanimity rules and veto rights.”

The MEP and European Parliament’s Brexit coordinator has long been in favour of reducing the democratic input of individual countries in order to grant more power to Brussels and in effect create a European superstate.

Two such rights still held by EU countries are the veto and unanimity voting, the latter of which meaning that all countries in the European Council must agree on a proposal before it is adopted. Without unanimity or vetos, the EU could ram through reforms without the agreement of the democratically-elected representatives and force its decisions onto the diverse European nations across the bloc.

Mr Verhofstadt concluded: “Only then can we act, only then can we defend our interests, and defend our values. it is the lack of effectiveness that is the problem that we have seen with Brexit.”

Wow who ever that woman was who told them "to put your flags away, your leaving" just cemented in my mind that the UK did the right thing. What an arrogant, poppas, loser. She should have just chuckled thanks them and then with a smile on her face told them to depart that they were no longer part the EU.

Loved that the EU parliament sang old lang sine to the brits. That was a sign of friends. The woman shown signs of being enemies with her comment.

5pm my time today UK is officially gone from the EU. I might give my Brit friend a call in England and drink a long distance beer with him. Man a night spent talking about how he hated the UK being in the EU and why. [B-o]
