When Should We Deal With Iran?
Iran is NOT a democratic nation! People should really give that some serious thought when comparing other nations to Iran when it comes to this subject.

Are you suggesting Saddam was democraticaly elected??

Canada isn't a democratic nation either. It was established based upon responsible government. The last thing they wanted was endless referendums and it seems that's the only thing that defines us now.

No, not at all! He was dangerous and threatening as well and he
failed to cooperate with the world community to keep peace. He got what he deserved IMO. I guess Iran's leadership learned nothing from it.
You do realize that Iran is playing apart in the destabilization of both Iraq and Afghanistan don't you? They are supplying weapons to kill Canadian Troops (hope that hits home).

The US should first apologize for forcing the Shah upon Iran. Then the proper "dealing" can commence from there.

Just asking, sounded like you were responding to my post on the first page (the one before yours). Sure Saddam got what he deserved. And now Iraq's civilians and Coalition troops continue to get what they don't deserve. The case for war was made around Iraq having WMD. Not bringing Saddam to justice. You don't start wars that kill tens of thousands of innocents in order to bring one person to justice. That's just retarded.
JustKate JustKate:
Yes I realize that and yes it hits home. Does Iran need to be 'delt with'? Yup, you bet. But this thread was started with the idea that war is the only option and most of you are singing right along. It was the same story pre-Iraq.

I think you knew what I meant and the point I was making concerning the differences between Iran and most countries that own nukes/WMD. sheesh

it was the 50's.. the other guy was a Communist and was going to nationalize
the oil program... hmm reminds me of someone...oh yeah, Chavez.
No apology needed for that one.

Myself, I'm content to wait for the Iranians to nuke...say, what city do you live in?

If you are paying attention, you have heard loud and clear the threats coming from Iran (Amajinadad) and his arrogant defiance to the world.
Nobody wants war!! Nobody wants nukes in his hands either because of the actions and rhetoric he's displayed! Who is being cornered here? I think we all are! His choice for his country. Back down and cooperate is the message he's getting from all governments or face dire consequences. What else can we do?

What else can we do? Sanctions. And prepare for more as a last resort. No need to get trigger happy Bush/Cheney/Rummie style.

Sanctions have been applied already to Iran, yes more should happen since the last round did zero!! (The Iranian people suffer more only making them HATE us more, that's what sanctions accomplish FYI).
If they only knew what "PEACE" really means, they could have a beautiful country like our Canada, that respects and cooperates with the rest of the world without affecting, just benefits their way of life. Such a shame.
Why are we always to blame? We are only reacting to events in countries that don't respect "human rights" and "Freedom of people"?
Western countries for the most part just want to live and let live. I think it's the advancement of technology that made it easy for ALL to see the differences between us and that has been the root of most of the problems today (especially for dictatorship countries). World resources where always bought and sold throughout history since the invention of transportation.
Opps....see some cowardly asshole just screwed up the poll.
