A cold war with USA and China, which will Canada help?
We've learned from before that supporting the USA is not a good thing. Should we support socialism this time and go with China since we're becoming a socialist country as well?

I say stay with the devil you know.
And at least America has democracy and they don't kill millions of their own countrymen for going against government policy.
Who voted for the $0.25 an hour slave drivers ?
Since you didn't properly post your thread, I'm not sure if you are saying should we side with one or the other in the event of a cold war, or adopt their economic system.
I think the first cold war showed which system works better, capitalism, so I would say, stick with what we have. If you mean who would we support, well that isn't even a question either. It would be the USA, simply because China and Canada have next to no links other than trade. We share a language, similar culture, political system, etc.
I say screw socialism lets keep our freedom.

I believe with the growing number of liberals in the US Norad will help China defeat the US and because Canada always follows suit with the US ....
Well if it is another Cold War then there isn't much to help with? Since military engagement at least directly wouldn't happen. However our government in the last cold war never stood with the United States with their views on China and went around them. I find it very unlikely knowing the people in this country would stand with the United States unless China really starts getting pushy.

You need to re-read your history books...Canada was firmly on the US' side during the entire Cold War. Did we do things that the US didn't agree with (trading with Cuba, recognizing China, etc)? Yes, but that is the right of a sovereign nation. The US also did things we didn't agree with either (fighting in Vietnam for one).
There was plenty of military engagements during the Cold War, it's just that most of the fighting was done on a small scale or by proxy rather than the two superpowers slugging it out themselves (Russia didn't fight in Vietnam but supplied them, while the US didn't fight in Afghanistan but supplied the muhajahdeen, the combatants in the Middle East were supplied one of the two superpowers, etc). More people have actually died since the end of World War 2 than actually died in World War 2.

If we didn't side with them with China before I doubt we will in the future.

True. And the overwhelming majority of those died in the Communist Chinese Great Leap Forward.
So we didn't side with them on normalizing relations with China (which they did a year later themselves). We were simply ahead of the curve...I guarantee that Canada will side with the USA over China in a future conflict, unless it is one in which the USA is the agressor. Even then, it's a 50-50 proposition.

People here can barley handle us being in a conflict zone in Afghanistan fighting some half starved adolescent recruited Taliban soldiers and many are crying we even helped the Americans when forces originating out of this country attacked them. You expect me to believe Canadians have any sort of backbone to take a stand against China? That is laughable and if we do offer any support it will be so limited and meaningless it will might as well be nothing anyway. Also I doubt we are going to have “Cold War” with China. As long as GM, Wal-Mart, McDonalds, and other corporations are making money out of this country there is not going to be any conflict arising.

There, that's better.

Well they are investing there and taking money out of your country to make it happen.
