Just a little discussion fodder
This again?
Sorry, I'm new-- is there an older thread on this that has already hashed out the subject to death?
We live in a secular nation with the democratic right to chose and the government of this land in its wisdom has rendered its verdict as has the highest court in the land. In a secular country the law of the land comes first and the religious convictions are based on a belief system, and not a legal opinion.
Some people cite the bible and claim we are a Christian country or something else, and the fact is we are not a theocracy we are a democracy.
stats canada shows that Canadians have 43 abortions for every 100 live births. How many are rape victims or like? certainly not even close to 43.
That tells me that our values are fucked up and we really aren't using the legality of abortions in the same spirit that made them legal in the first place.
We are all a bunch of narcissistic bitches and bastards.
The spirit that made them legal was simply, its the womans right to chose and apparently they are chosing not to have children. There was no ideal under what conditions, it came down to a legal ruling by the supreme court and a free vote in parliament god know how long ago.
In the context of the ruling it did not state for rape or health or anything else it dealt with the right of the woman to chose and she owns her own body.
I would also prefer to see less abortions, personally I have 22 grandchildren and I couldn't imagine getting rid of any of them. There are others who do not want them and the law is what it is, cry as you might people aren't guilty of anything because they seek to pursue their legal rights under the law
I'm totally for abortion.
Probably. Got to get rid of those frenchies.
I am for abortion clinics. Having abortions is not a very healthy activity, but the option to have a safe one should exist if one is needed.
Abortion's been a demographic disaster for every nation that's allowed it to become a routine procedure. The fact that wiping out our replacement population forced us to accept immigration from highly undesireable states and societies speaks for itself.
The federal government should have stepped in a long time ago to provide resources and mechanisms that would have promoted adoption over abortion, even if it meant that some children quite probably have ended up being raised under state care well past infancy.
And once again it's clearly shown that a successful argument against abortion can be made without resorting to frothing at the mouth religious nonsense.
PS: Just to be consistent I'm against the death penalty too, even if when I get emotional I might say some things that would indicate otehrwise.
I am also against the death penalty, except in cases where people think it's okay to beat up a pregnant woman. I think we should be allowed to shoot such people in the head, hopefully in such a way that they live on with part of their skull and brain missing, or bury them alive in a pit full of maggots.
Yeah, that'd be the most brutal, dark, metal thing that could happen, and actually do good for the world.
