Shite!
Guess I'll quit complaining about it being -15. Even with the wind chill warnings in effect, we're in pretty good shape!
Thought you were gonna have one of those cozy Atco (*cough, choke, gag*) camps this time?
I wish. bloody snowdrifts in the tents and shitters, thats why I moved in to the kitchen. Good thing we got lots of food because no ones going anywhere for a few days.
Might be a good time to take up moonshinin'.

We discussed that yesterday.

That and a huge poker game.
Well get at it, will ya?
There's a nasty rumor circulating that I'm gonna be outta rum for a while.

The east wind died last night, beautifull sunny morning and then the north wind picked up so its back home for sure.Did 8 miles on the lake today and on the way back it was all drifted over allready.

The only stores in most of the small towns are northern stores(chain) and they sell everything from produce, clothing, computers, and the skidoos are next to the cariboo bbq'ing on the rotisserie. They sometimes have a KFC and a dominoes together in the one building.Buckets and barrels are not for sale anymore,or maybe they just dont want to put the price up with a few khablooniks in town. Some folks travel hundreds and hundreds of miles by ski-doo just to hit the "northern store". Lots wind up walking the last stretch when they run out of fuel. I'll try and remember to post the pic of the gal and her two daughters who were found walking a few years ago near camp in -40. The anti fur people should come up here and see how long it is before they freeze to death or are begging for a real fur coat that you could literally lay down on the tundra and have a nice nap in without getting a hint of a chill.
One thing i find the whites do here is whine about the weather and really refer to this place as a shit hole, they dont realize this is the Innuit's home and they dont share the same view. Then they wonder when they get the cold shoulder from them.
The desolation is whats beautifull about this land or "our land" which the word "Nunavut" means.
That and the sunrises and sunsets, the ground blizzards and the wolves and Arctic fox which are truly one of the most beautifull animals I have ever seen. I posted a few pics in the members gallery if you want to check them out.

Another day, another blizzard, thats about 4 in the last 7 days.Visibility was too bad to head out on the lake so I hung around camp helping the mechanics pull the frozen loader into the cover-all and conveniently piercing a 45 gallon oil drum with my corner bit (blade). Man that 15-40 weight was like syrup when it poured out on the ground.
it just layed there and we had to scrape it off the shovels while heating them with a tiger torch. My machine is still the only one running.
Took the welder 20 seconds to take this pic and my hands allmost froze waiting.
