I could give you ten pages of things that annoy me about people on this site, but that's my problem, not anyone else's.

I didn't tell you not to nominate people. I expressed my opinion as to why the nomination is stupid.

   

I think I have to agree with Mustang1 & Bluenose here. Just because someone doesn't agree with you shouldn't qualify him/her for an 'annoying' medal. Hell, otherwise essentially everyone would have that medal, because I'm sure most of us has pissed off someone else in the forums at least once...

When I think of the annoying medal, I'm reminded of Banff's dozens (maybe hundreds) of posts of "test" to bump his stats, or MagicMan necroposting in threads that are years old and then saying he doesn't want a medal for it.

I do like Mustang1's suggestion to change it to a scarlet 'A' though. That's very appropriate!

I second the stupid.

I guess there's a possible weakness in the medal system, eh? If 3 people want to give a medal, it doesn't matter how many people think it's stupid, the medal gets awarded anyway.

   

Or the opposite could be said, you could be very annoying but if you have three friends that are willing to back you up, then your all good.

   

Under the current system, your 3 friends could give you all the nice-sounding medals, and "annoying," "flamer" and so on to anyone who disagrees with you. I guess I'd prefer something more like a poll, since the board is already set up to do those anyway. Then if 3 people wanted to award a medal, and 6 thought the idea was stupid, it wouldn't be awarded (as it would be now).

   

Well the recipient also has the option to not accept the medal, Trevor has said he won't give medals to someone that doesn't want it.

   

A baby rattle might be a more approprite award in this case.

   

I think a fitting tribute would be to honour him with his own quote.

Plus people seem to forget that it's the Moderators' decision. "Yippee we got three votes" is a little early to be celebrating, though it happens all the time.

I still haven't seen a solid reason for this nomination, anyway. "Well, it's just my opinion!!!!!" isn't a good argument, and neither is pointing to this issue between Bart and Iceowl. kaetz claims it's not because she disagreed with Iceowl, but she can't seem to come up with anything else.

I for one have been no fan of Iceowl's in the past, as he can certainly qualify, but as far as I'm concerned, his posts of late have been the least "annoying" that they've ever been.

   

I too find Iceowl quite annoying, but since he's part of the "club" there's no sense in trying.
