Slasher debating style? WTF is that? You may think your topic is here for information and discussion, but you've given no verifiable proof of your systematic genocide claims and you're not interested in discussion........mainly because you can't keep up. You refer back to your first post and link like it's the gold standard......maybe it is in your mom's basement but not around here. From what I've seen of your posts I'll have to get you to refer back to my first post on page one.

Title insurance for my property?? You'll need to check your health insurance long before we get that far.

Is that a threat?

Slasher debating style ...
- Do not read recommended material before discussing topic.
- Disrespectful of the content of the topic and it's human implications.
- Pseudo-intellectual demand for, dismissal of information not fully considered.
- Generally includes personal insults which reduce the learning capacity of individuals, interfere with the growth of awareness and knowledge, and is of no relevance to improvement of knowledge and awareness of the topic.
- Focuses on the process of "winning" a debate rather than contributing anything meaningful to world knowledge.
- EgoEgoEgo driven, inhumane and, in my opinion, used only by politicians, not human beings of integrity. A means of masterbating your ego, not improving life.
- Immature, adolescent, and many adolescents are more genuine than slasher debaters. There is hope for adolescents as they do develop. Arrested development, however, is more impervious to change: There is little hope for those with arrested development, without significant effort on their part to join the socialized human milieu.

"Then there are testimonies of hundreds of former students whose list of abuses includes kidnapping, sexual abuse, beatings, needles pushed through tongues as punishment for speaking Indigenous languages, forced wearing of soiled underwear on the head or wet bed sheets on the body, faces rubbed in human excrement, forced eating of rotten and/or maggot infested food, being stripped naked and ridiculed in front of other students, forced to stand upright for several hours -- on two feet and sometimes one -- until collapsing, immersion in ice water, hair ripped from heads, use of students in eugenics and medical experiments, bondage and confinement in closets without food or water, application of electric shocks, forced to sleep outside or to walk barefoot in winter, forced labour and on and on."
(The Healing Update Has Begun, from the Aboriginal Healing Foundation, May 2002)

I am happy to discuss these issues with people genuinely interested in this topic. I will not engage in political style debate as that is disrespectful to the people whose lives have been tragically affected or curtailed by Canada's genocidal policies and practices, and it interferes with the growth of knowledge of Canadians on this topic of vital public interest and importance.

I note that some people here have assumed I am an Indigenous person ... I am not. However, given that misinterpretation, some of your comments are racist. Since I have been a supporter of Haudenosaunee Six Nations land reclamation, I have experienced what they experience every day of their lives, and another supporter has been physically and verbally threatened by bat-wielding hate-filled racist thugs. Yes, here in Ontario.
Thank you. Good bye.

.........................................................
(Resumes talking to people who come forward with a good mind ...)

Many of the facts of Canada's genocidal policies and practices are well known, especially by those alive when babies and children were being killed, or escaping the horrors and going missing. The remaining question, as far as the UN and International Courts are concerned is Canada's INTENT.

Duncan Campbell Scott was Superintendent of Indian Affairs, Canada from 1913 to 1932, responsible for mandatory attendance at rsidential schoolos by Indigenous children living on reserves.

"I want to get rid of the Indian problem...Our objective is to continue until there is not a single Indian in Canada that has not been absorbed into the body politic and there is no Indian question and no Indian department." (Duncan Campbell Scott)

... and he repeated variations on this theme:

In 1920 he said, "I want to get rid of the Indian problem. Our object is to continue until there is not a single Indian in Canada that has not been absorbed. They are a weird and waning race...ready to break out at any moment in savage dances."

... but did he include 'premature death' as a strategy?

"It is readily acknowledged that Indian children lose their natural resistance to illness by habituating so closely in the residential schools and that they die at a much higher rate than in their villages. But this does not justify a change in the policy of this Department which is geared towards a final solution of our Indian Problem."
(Duncan Campbell Scott)

... and others...

"Indians sometimes think that if government authorities became convinced they could solve the Indian problem by purchasing gallons of white paint and painting all of us white, they would not hesitate to try. in fact, the government’s education policy almost seems aimed in that direction. Indians recognize that education is one of the major tools that will help us strike off the shackles of poverty and, incidentally, the tyranny of government direction. But the white man apparently believes that education is a tool for the implementation of his design of assimilation."
(Cardinal, Harold, The Unjust Society, pg.51)

"The abuse of Native children was so widespread, over such a long period of time, that as the timeline shows, Canada's attempts to eliminate Native Nations is now embedded in the general history of the country. Payments as a result of class-action lawsuits for these atrocities against an innocent people could exceed the billion dollar mark for both States and Churches.
Money, however, can never make up for the incalculable cost in human life, suffering and loss of Indigenous cultural knowledge and practices."
(Shannon Thunderbird)
... and, one should add, the relationships between Canadians and our closest neighbours.

"The residential school had been contrived specifically to enable missionaries to meddle with the character formation and identity of Native children even though the parents had stressed repeatedly that they wanted education, not assimilation. (Shannon Thunderbird)"

Is Duncan Campbell Scott solely responsible? No ... he was responding to the culture and history of Canada, taking to its most extreme end policies already in place.

1857
Gradual Civilization Act applied to all Indians in the Province of Canada; they were an affirmation of legislative control over Indians. The legislation stated it was shouldering the responsibility and authority to define who was an Indian as a preliminary to making it feasible for the Indian to cease being an Indian. Part of the process was forcing Native children into government-run schools.

1880's
"Sexual perversions of the most heinous kinds at the hands of priests and nuns were commonplace, spiritually and emotionally damaging generations of Native children."

I have read a woman's story online ... she described physical abuse and humiliation, and referred to sexual abuse but would not describe what the priest did to her in the bathtub. However, she will not have a bathtub in her house to this day. (2005)

...........
Forced assimilation is genocide - the destruction of a People.
When accompanied by the atrocities committed against CHILDREN in residential schools over SIX GENERATIONS, infecting families with violence that perpetuates itself, genocide does not capture the human and social impact of Canada's shameful past ... seems too nice a word.

It is my hope, since Canada shows every intention of trying to cover up, gloss over, buy off (with a waiver of liability) Indigenous people, that the United Nations becomes directly involved. If Canada does not face this horror in the eyes of the world, Canada is a hypocrite in the eyes of the world and diseased at the core. Nelson Mandela dismissed Canada's concerns about racism in South Africa by saying that Canada had no right to speak, considering their treatment of Indigenous people.

..........................
Why would Canada do that? Because we live on native land that we do not want to pay them for nor share fairly with them.Canada does not want to honour its legal agreements with Indigenous people, which are protected by the Constitution: Canada does not want to uphold its own Constitution.

" A report was published based on the ideas of Egerton Ryerson, Father of public education in Ontario. His ideas formed the basis for future directions in policy for Indian education:
"There is a need to raise the Indians to the level of the whites...and take control of land out of Indians hands. The Indian must remain under the control of the Federal Crown rather than provincial authority, that effort to Christianize the Indians and settle them in communities be continued,....that schools, preferably manual labour ones, be established under the guidance of missionaries....Their education must consist not merely training of the mind, but of a weaning from the habits and feelings of their ancestors, and the acquirements of the language, art and customs of civilized life."

Canada took control of Indigenous land through "surrender" documents, supposedly keeping the land 'in trust' for the People, and acruiing all proceeds to them. This did not happen. In most cases, Canada pocketed the money from sales, leases, resources, etc.... AND STILL DOES. There is no such thing as CROWN LAND ... that is Indigenous land ... and so is the lot under your house.

I do not want to leave this legacy to my descendents.

I am happy to discuss potential solutions as well, for Canada and for the Indigenous people who so generously shared their land with us, been our allies in peace and war, and helped us survive and grow as a people. Keep in mind: It is their land, and they want it back to preserve it for coming generations, because we have abused and desecrated it. Before you start making comments on this maybe you should read AM's original post on this.....or is that too much trouble?

I read it. Her connection vis a vis "final solution" is over the top but there's a more than fair point to be made that the FN in this country haven't received their due. Is everything on the Grand going to revert to the Haldimand Tract? I doubt that everything that's been hived-off was done so on the up-and-up. But not all of it was whisked-out from under the nose of unsuspecting FNs either.

As is typical, the truth will probably lie somewhere in the middle of the extremes of viewpoints.

Thanks for asking. The Haudenosaunee and Canadian historians are beginning the process of parcel by parcel construction of facts for the Haldimand tract. The overall claim is valid but the legitimacy of each transaction needs to be established.

Well, you dodged all of my salient challenges, so you’ve got no currency here in calling on other’s alleged debating issues. All I’ve seen you do is ape other’s questionable work, push ahistorical mush, cower from direct questions, omit evidence that objectively renders your “history” erroneous and hypocritically demand that others meet some sort of dialogue etiquette that so far you’ve abstained from.

Sorry. Your minutia bombing doesn’t work either. You can set up whatever infantile parameters you see fit, but it won’t help your crumbling case and it won’t render your tenuous claims any more legitimate. In short, this is a Xerox fest and you’re not interested in historical discourse.

One question -- please don't take this as being rude or flippant, I'm just having an issue with the logic.

If non-indigenous people don't have any real right to be here, will you be moving back to Europe now? I mean, if we don't belong here, that is the logical next step, isn't it?

As Mustang1 has pointed out, you've said absolutely nothing and taken up pages to tell us about it. Cut and paste won't do it when you make wild accusations that again you can't substantiate. So does this all go back to the "We were here first" argument? I mean, does that include EVERY piece of Canada then? Did the native people come to North America and say "THIS IS ALLLLLLL MINE!". Somehow I dont think there was land divided up into parcels before whitey got here. Somehow I dont think that every square INCH of Canada has been mapped out and stated as being "native land".

Even if, by chance, it was, what right NOW do natives have to claim all of Canada to be theres with the little population that it has?

Is it not just time to get over it? As many a people have said, there have been MILLIONS of people displaced from thier homelands, hundreds of thousands that have been in wars and land stripped from them. Its the way things happened. To claim now that you want it back becuase MY ancestors took it from you is horseshit. It happened. Time to get with the program and become a part of this hugely diverse culture we call Canada. There is PLENTY of room and A LOT to do in Canada to make a fantastic living.

Is hard work now a taboo to native people? Is it now just down to complaining and lawsuits to make your lives bearable?

Call me ignorant if you like, but fuck me.....its all getting so old. There is so much more to life than holding a fucking grudge.

I'm going back to France.

And I'm going to find the land (in Poitou) that was originally my family's,

and demand it back.

I don't care if there are apartment buildings on it, whatever.

It's mine.

And I'm also going to demand a government paycheck.

And I'm also going to demand that the schools teach nice things about me, and give the French students have a favorable opinion of me and all my ancestors.

And I want a new car...
