Oh yea, the ancient times. When you could be stoned to death for being gay. Women were property and couldn't vote. Children were seen and not heard. That was freedom!

   

I always wonder how far back we have to go to make those people happy... yes, I said 'Those People' ... back to the good old days of slavery perhaps, when you could say anything you wanted if you where white and lynched, if you weren't.

Well, it seems only white cis males seem to want 'the old simple times' back, so I'd suggest that is a leading reason.

   

More talk about how great today's new & improved times are from the sort of people who'd like to see comedy regulated by the government and who only laugh when someone from an opposing tribe gets cancelled online. Yeah, rule by the neo version of the torches & pitchforks & speech puritans crowd has really turned out to be awe inspiring.

   

This has all made me think of the song "Those were the days" from All in the Family.

I don't think it's only white men who long for simpler times. I'm quite sure there are white women and men and women of other than white skin who are also frustrated by the complexity of today's world.

I'm adding "cis" to my list of yet another word I'm getting really tired of hearing. We didn't use to have to be so specific and I refuse to think of myself as anything other than a woman and being referred to as she/her/female. Just my obviously not-so-correct-these-days opinion.

   

They control all the language, kid. You'll just have to get used to them using it as a weapon against you if you dissent and end up on their enemies list. They're explicitly not going to let you have any say in the matter.

Anyone who thinks this isn't fully & completely an Orwell's world now hasn't been paying attention. The only minute difference between the prophetic old book and today's reality is that we're now ruled by Big "Kind" Sister instead of Big Mean Brother.

   

I mean that around here, it's only been white cis males who yearn for a time when the power was with them. There may be other people longing for a simpler time, but few of them yearn for the worse health, poorer healthcare, lack of rights, and deplorable working conditions of our forefathers. Simple fender benders could kill you instantly. Terry Fox died of a commonly cured cancer now.

And, do you remember how racist and misogynistic Archie Bunker was? That kind of thing will get you a few days in the news and a Netflix comedy special nowadays.



Because male/female is not descriptive. You can be one outside, and the other inside. And you can be same or opposite sex attracted. What if someone is born with some dangly bits from each gender? Which gender do you pick?

'Cis' gendered simply means they identify with the sex they were assigned at birth. It's not an insult, and more descriptive that male or female as it applies to either sex and excludes gender.

And, yes, if you don't want sickos to be anywhere near women and children that you also want people to start dying from asbestos or a burst appendix or sickle-cell and all that other fun stuff. Yes, absolutely, 100% fer shure man.
