I'm not pro-life, but I think Obama is going too fast for a conservative nation such as America.
Why is he funding foreign abortion movements?
Because if someone can't have an abortion on their own country, they shouldn't be punished for having one somewhere else.
That makes absolutely no sense.

It does if you're not ignorant.
The US had a law that restricted the use of American money to pay for an abortion in another country. One of the first things Obama did was get rid of that law.
Who is being punished, in this context, for having an abortion? Do they deserve this money by some insane twist of the mind? How the hell do you come to that conclusion?
NO one deserves any money for making a choice as un black and white as abortion. Truth is getting money from the government for abortion is a step backwards and starts down the road of implying there is little or no penalty for sex.
That's not a good road to start down for a variety of reasons I shouldn't even have to name...

OMG you need a shrink if you think there is or should be a penalty for sex... truly!

Are you saying that women should not be allowed to spend their own money to have an abortion?

Why is he funding foreign abortion movements? Each country has its own ethos regarding abortion, some pro, some against. In countries where 90%+ the population is Catholic for example we cannot expect there to be liberal attitudes in regards to abortion.
However, it goes both ways, the religious movements sometimes must throw a mouthpiece on themselves. The Pope's condom fiasco in Angola was a disaster for the Catholic church and Angolan catholics.
Condom fiasco? I have seen no fallout from any of the Pope's statements in that regard.
A barrage of media condemnation, AIDs prevention groups, woman's rights groups etc. Plenty of links to google search.
It was a fiasco in a classical sense.

I am adamantly anti-abortion, so yes, I would support that statement.
However, my previous questioning was with regards to what I considered the rather audacious perspective that women were being punished by being denied government subsidies for their abortions.

There are negative consequences that result from unrestrained promiscuity. Ergo, a "penalty".

The classical sense of a fiasco is some sort of catastrophic failure. There were no substantial negative effects to justify such a qualification, just criticism from the usual sectors that object to Catholic teaching.

The catastrophe is that some illiterate but pious Angolan Catholics will take the Pope's advice to heart in a nation where the risk of AIDS is dangerously prevalent.
That's the real catastrophe who's devastation will be counted in a generation.

Pious Catholics shouldn't be having extramarital sex, with or without condoms.
