These are desperate times for the church and no holy man with peace in his heart would utter such shameful utterances. The church has learned nothing. So goes the way of the world.

The Church has learned something very important: When you water down the faith - people leave.

This is not a rip but a true question for the catholics. Does your priest or what ever urge you to read the bible? I've heard both yes and no from catholics when I've asked this question in person to a few. Most have said NO.

Good question Strat, when I went to church the mass was said in Latin. I have no idea what the priest was blathering on about, he could of been reading the "Joy of Cooking" and I wouldn't of known it. I don't think priests want their flock to be to "Learned" about the bible it diminishes his power. Holy Trinady or some such nonsense.

He probably prayed that they all become Catholic

Emo Philips Emo Philips:
I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. So I ran over and said "Stop! don't do it!" "Why shouldn't I?" he said. I said, "Well, there's so much to live for!" He said, "Like what?" I said, "Well...are you religious or atheist?" He said, "Religious." I said, "Me too! Are you christian or buddhist?" He said, "Christian." I said, "Me too! Are you catholic or protestant?" He said, "Protestant." I said, "Me too! Are you episcopalian or baptist?" He said, "Baptist!" I said,"Wow! Me too! Are you baptist church of god or baptist church of the lord?" He said, "Baptist church of god!" I said, "Me too! Are you original baptist church of god, or are you reformed baptist church of god?" He said,"Reformed Baptist church of god!" I said, "Me too! Are you reformed baptist church of god, reformation of 1879, or reformed baptist church of god, reformation of 1915?" He said, "Reformed baptist church of god, reformation of 1915!" I said, "Die, heretic scum", and pushed him off.

ROTFL "Die Heretic Scum!"

Pope says other Christians are not true churches

Updated Tue. Jul. 10 2007 8:09 PM ET
Associated Press

LORENZAGO DI CADORE, Italy -- Pope Benedict reasserted the primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document released Tuesday that says other Christian communities are either defective or not true churches and Catholicism provides the only true path to salvation.

Yuck, as a Protestant this reaffirms why I am a Protestant...the Catholic church is SO full of themselves and pompous.

Uh.

Sickening.

As for this, the Pope is merely re-affirming 2000 years of belief, tradition and dogma. I would be more surprised if he had said otherwise. Of course he'd say the Catholic Church is the One Church. What kind of nutjob would he be if he had said,"Oh, it turns out those guys over there are the One True Church, yeah, damn, sorry about that".

Worse. The Finn clan is from Sligo and Galway and are descendant of the Norse invaders who settled the area in around 800.

That makes me Irish and Viking. 8O

We need only a quick scan of this institution's history to see the wonders of it's performance and a lifetime to see it's dismal failures and injustices. The one true church indeed!

Has anyone ever noticed the similarities between the catholic church and the mafia?

Fathers and dons, cardinals and bosses.... they are both death oriented if you don't kiss their asses? I could say more... a lot more, but it is all so disgusting. Better to meditate on that which is good.

Hmmm, actually I hadn't. But I sure notice the similarities between organised crime and the Liberal Party of Canada.

I think you are confusing the Liberal Party of Canada with the Conservative Party of Canada.

Easy mistake to make.

I consider Harper's liberals and Dion's Liberals interchangeable and indistinguishable.
