LORENZAGO DI CADORE, Italy -- Pope Benedict reasserted the primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document released Tuesday that says other Christian communities are either defective or not true churches and Catholicism provides the only true path to salvation.

Yuck, as a Protestant this reaffirms why I am a Protestant...the Catholic church is SO full of themselves and pompous.

Uh.

Sickening.

Well West, the Fundie Baptist think Catholics are the Great Satin. They also think women wear white when they get married so they can blend in with the appliances after marrage. Frankly all religion is exculsive to their particular beliefs, That's why it's called "Freedom of Religion", your not Catholic so why should you care what they think???

They are condemning all branches of Christianity as "not real" if they are not Catholic chuches.

And most Protestant churches treat their woman equally.

I grew up in a Baptist Church and their was female priest!

Methodist, Baptist, United, etc. all allow female priests so how demeaning are they?

Are you a feminist? :P

i'm a catholic and theres this site called www.informedchristians.com which claim the catholic church is "satan's masterpiece"...theres a lot of things about the catholic church i disagree with...i think its the sincerity of your relationship with god that determines what happens to you in the afterlife

yeah I have a born into it Catholic friend, who is a believer but disagrees with a lot of Catholic stuff, but just does it out of habit/tradition.

Doesn't matter much what he says when those he is discussing, don't recognize his authority.

I believe the modern Catholics are one of the few to actually have their shit together.

They don't bend or alter their religion to appease whatever is considered politically correct, they are by far the most tolerant and accepting of any of the major religions, and are regarded as the greatest lovers in the world (French, Italian, Spanish are all Catholics).

have to be great lovers when they are shit as fighters.....

Not too many compare with the Irish when it comes to violence .

ShepherdsDog @ Tue Jul 10, 2007 8:02 pm

You didn't mention them initially, but since you brought the paddies up...yes they are great fighters, the only problem being that they love fighting amongst themselves more than anything. Even when there is a common enemy they'd sooner fight each other. Then again, Ulster and the rest of Ireland fought long before Christianity arrived on Irish shores.

With this the pope has said that he does not recognize anyone being christian outside of the catholic church. Will he now declare a crusade aginst the rest of the "christian" religions? To bring us back into the fold of course.

I suspect he would if he were a godless protestant or a fanatical Muslim.

This is not a rip but a true question for the catholics. Does your priest or what ever urge you to read the bible? I've heard both yes and no from catholics when I've asked this question in person to a few. Most have said NO.
