Suicide or Euthanasia Right or Wrong?

Of course I keep goin back to him, HE is the topic.
I notice you have no clue of what I am talking about. I am open to discussion, no problem, it seems to me you are feeling attacked by my calling this guy (and I specifically mentioned THIS guy) a coward.
Furthermore, I thought I made very clear I am not against euthanasia. I believe strongly in a case to case basis. As I stated before, I personally don't believe THIS case was a euthanasia case. This case was a planned suicide, which is not the same.
Brenda Brenda:
He could have just put a rope around his neck and go to the woods. OD on whatever over the counter drug... What is the difference between having a friend helping him with that and a doctor putting the final needle in his arm?
Sorry, I have no respect for this guy.
I want to avoid getting older anyway. Got a solution for that? Should I kill myself today?

Life sucks sometimes. Suck it up, buttercup... Deal with it.
(you don't have to clarify European issues to me, btw, I am Dutch

)
I think you are being very simplistic when it comes to this issue. This is a man in his 80's, in London, with terminal stomach cancer. When I say he was well enough to travel, I wasn't saying he was pain/symptom free.
I also can assure you that the organization that he delt with doesn't accept everyone who walks through the door. Extensive medical and psychological screening is done before an agreement is made.
I think Euthanasia and suicide are very different issues.

Euhmmm, I was talking about this English guy...
I can hardly be symplistic about euthanasia or abortion, for that matter.
This english guy had this injury in 2007. It is 2008 now. I don't think "they" screened a 23 year old rugbyplayer enough to understand his case.

I just realised we're not talking about the same english guy.

No the topic is the legalization of euthanasia, which happened to be brought on by this specific issue. He doesn't represent the type of circumstances anyone has been discussing.

How would
I feel like I'm being attacked? I question the relevance of your personal opinion on the matter of his suicide to the discussion. What point is there in repeatedly insulting a dead guy? Nobody's defending his actions, it's time to move on.

Did you even read the first page?

Im guessing you feel the same about abortion...
Not at all. No brain, no pain.
Guess the no brain part would be getting pregnant with an unwanted child in the first place... birth control is the cure for abortion..
So what happens when the birth control fails?
I have worked with clients with huntingtons, ms and ALS and have in my 25 yrs nursing experience, been asked to help them out of this world.. I would not have... but I agree with euthanasia... I believe it is a right of those who are terminally ill and no chance of cure and quality of life is the shits.. I have had patients tell me that family who insist on them being kept alive on machines or by invasive and often exruciating treatments are lovingly selfish..I think that advance directives should spell out these wishes and substitute decision makers should have the right to ask that the patients wishes be carried out.. As a nurse, I have empathy for clients who wish to end the miserable life or circumstance they find themselves in.. I agree with those who say we wouldnt let animals suffer,, we euthanize them..why not humans?

Your guess is as good as mine... but abortion is not a form of birth control and there are those who think it is... in my family there are 9 nurses and 3 doctors..
my cousin works in a womens clinic.. she said she sees the same girls more than once for tx.. the pill they tell me and condoms together are 99.9% effective...

condoms together are 99.9% effective...
If there is a pregnancy after both condom and the pill, she should just have the damn thing, it was meant to be. That is one resilient seed! Going to do great things.
But getting back on topic, I'd rather be dead than drool the rest of my life away to be honest. There's no point to live if I'm going to be sitting incapacitated for the rest of my life. Unless I gain an amazing Stephen Hawking like ability to solve complex calculations in my head, I think my time on earth as a living creature should come to a voluntary close.
