Why do people believe in God?

Jesus keeps striving for Man his creation.
Really? Because it says in the Bible that I have sitting next to me that Jesus is the son of God and that Man is the creation of God, not Jesus.

On that particular word of DIE does not mean a physical death. It means being away from God, away from the precence of God. Which what evidently happened, as you very well know. So logically thats what it means one to die. By being away from the precence of God. But now today he reconcyles mankind to himself by the death and reesurrection of Jesus Christ.

To me, the reason people created religion was to gain power. Nothing more. I mean, in the days that people didn't have the knowledge that we have now, the easiest way to gain power (and wealth of course) was to scare people.

"It's a nasty hot place where you will burn if you do bad things!"
"Oh. And what if I already done bad things?"
"Give us lots of money and the Lord will forgive your sins!"

I never said I have a problem with religion. Each to it's own.
Only stated my opinion of what I think of religion and why mankind created it 2000 years ago.

What is the difference between you following the hawk, believing in that power, finding and having faith in that, and "believing in God"? Imo, they are both choices, just like Atheism is a choice.
People don't "just believe in God because they were taught to". With that statement, you insult believers.
