Flood insurance doesn't exist in Canada as far as I know. My point is where two multimillionares choose to buy their home is hardly a convincing argument for anything. These guys can obviously afford contingency plans.

The two of them could have built their homes on custom built islands for all I care. But when you have palatial, water-front homes and jump into the fray with doom and gloom "predictions" while exhorting the rest of us "mere peons" to live smaller and simpler, well, ya come across as a douche bag.
And let's look at the alarmist message they help spread. "Millions will die from catastrophic flooding". "Coastal areas will be under as much as 20 feet of water".
If that many people are going to die from catastrophic flooding, it would seem it would have to be very sudden and very rapid to catch that many people off guard. I don't think contingency plans are going to be very effective if you happen to be at home on the waterfront when if it happens.
I agree they are both hypocrites. However, if a complete douche bag tells me to continue flossing regularly because it is good dental hygiene, I am not going to stop doing it because he said it.
As for this: "Millions will die from catastrophic flooding". "Coastal areas will be under as much as 20 feet of water".
I simply can't answer to made up bullshit that no one actually said.
Well I've come up with a theroy on Global Warming. It is all Frodo's fault, when the ring went into the lava and the valcano erupted it caused the temp to sky rocket. We are still feeling the effects. Dang Frodo and his stupid quest.

Watched the Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on the weekend. Lamest movie ever. You expect a 3-hour film to have something entertaining about it. The editors could have pared that one down to about 35 minutes.
Sorry Lemmy, but I'll need more than charts for proof. Hell, I can make a chart showing the temps dropping. It's easy to do when you don't have to show your work or how you came up with the figures.
You're willing to accept all sorts of ridiculous claims without evidence when it comes to religion, but when it comes to climate science, 95%+ consensus among experts isn't enough. Odd.

So its exactly like all 3 LOTR movies put toghter, good thing I gave it a pass then.

You can get flood insurance in most places. Just not for flooding caused by water entering your house over land. Backing up through the sewer, entering through a hole in the the roof or wall, no problem. Because of the sea, or a river flooding it's banks, no way.
Just as an aside, a person I race with was flooded out of her Calgary apartment in June when the Bow flooded. She just got back in for the first time, yesterday. (But she has till had to pay rent, and utilities) And the place is pretty much unliveable, on the third floor.
17 years ago, I used to ice fish on my lake. My lake no longer freezes in winter.
Mine does. It stopped for a decade, or so there, but the 20 below stuff returned, just like the ice in the Arctic did this summer. Be patient. For some reason you're in a freaky warm spot. (That's assuming I believe you).
In the meantime there's been no statistically significant warming globally for 17 years. The IPCC projected there would be. They promised with 90% certainty that temperatures would go up as CO2 levels rose in the atmosphere. It didn't happen.
"Climate reporter" David Suzuki did not, and does not know there has been no warming in 17 years. He's a crappy "climate reporter". He should do his research. Hell, all it takes is Google.
In the last 10 years I've been ice racing in Northern Alberta, 4 of them have had most of the season cancelled because the ice was not thick enough to support the weight of vehicles. One season was completely cancelled. 3 of them had one or two races, but not till late January when the season normally starts late November.
Yes, cracked me right up. Deserving of my first ever + rep for Bart if I could and a " " for Delwin not even remotely getting it.
I totally got it and thought it was funny. The point was graphs are only as valid as the info plotted on them. The meme was me trying to contribute to the joke. Possible fail. Obviously, I didnt think bart was serious.

I am??? That's news to me. Perhaps you can freshen my memory as to what ridiculous religious claims I'm willing to accept.
Lemmy Lemmy:

Nothing "odd" about cottoning to the fact that 95% of 33% is not a consensus.
