Streaker, you said I should go further west to vancouver. I would like to, but how long a drive is it?
Vancouver is only another 3 hours drive from Kelowna via the Coquihalla highway
The Glaciers you've heard of Denms are the Columbia Ice fields, they're outside Jasper! Here's the website for them:

Keep in mind I "guesstimated" and took another route. What road he takes is his choice. I never claimed I was spot on right.
No worries because its not something worth arguing over anyway and even so I'm not convinced that you are far off from your guesstimation . Don't know why it turned into an argument but bragging rights about being on everyroad from here to Timbucktoo doesn't sound like more than an opportunity to win an argument either , especially when someone wants to use this thread to celebrate a visit to the mountains for the first time . What a shame ...I guess thats proof there are no rednecks in Alberta

Just cant stand it when someone makes massive claims that cant be backed up,Tman might be faster then a jet but I just cant stand bullpoop,If you do come via #3 let me know,I'll set you up with campspots and everything you need on your journey to Kelowna, free of charge. I have no problem helping out anyone travelling through Southern Alberta's best kept secret. Come by when Thunder in the valley is on,biggest fireworks show in all of Canada.I also have a quarter section of land in an old ghost town, lots of my buds now come down from Calgary to camp there for 2 weeks at a time.Everyone is welcome. Even tman as long as he dont go breaking the sound barrier while everyone is sleeping.
But BS is BS and it will still be at least a 6 hour drive to Kelowna from here or Calgary, dont care how fast your driving. It cant be done in much less. Anyone else tells you different is bullshitting you, or has never been there.
I think the Mods would do good to delete all the posts of this little pissing match tangent, for the sake of denmns.
I agree Blue Nose lol

Thanks for the apology and I wont reprint it here because PM's are supposed to be that, private. A word of advice though, next time you send a pm to Ruez make sure it's him your sending it too and not me.
heh heh,made my day. Thanks
If I might add my two cents, denmns...
I've never been on that coast, but the one thing I've been told to be sure to 'splurge on' was to rent a convertible for the trip through the mountains... you'll be able to enjoy the view tens times more.
With just your wife and you, hopefully you won't need anything bigger.
You gotta stop by the Columbia Icefields.... It's awesome
Once there don't forget a bottle to bring back the artifact item "Ancient Water"
I been in the west last summer and I spent 120 $ for a truck ride to the Glaciers, with stops at Athabasca Falls and some other falls I can't remember the name and I went on them snowriders to actually walk on the Glacier`s tongue and drink some "Ancient Water".
Considering I had not even 1000$ when I left Montréal thet Glacier trip costed me about 15% of my total budget but it was well worth it I guarantee you. If you already have a car to travel the snowcoach tour costs about 30 $ if I remember well.

Your choice which way you go,I can tell you that the trans Canada is the prefferred route because thats the only road most know to the coast and Banff and Jasper allways get the spotlight.
But if your on a budget and want the most for your bucks then #3 and the crows nest pass would be a good choice.
You can spend days at the Frank slide or fishing in the world class trout stream while camping in the community's free campground and it's all cheap or free.
Into caves? our gargantuan caverns were once in the guiness book of records for deepest in north America(now revoked)Cost-free
Like history? Canada,s worst mine disaster was here, also our beloved rum runner Emperor Pic,his mistress was the only woman in Alberta to be hanged after a shootout with the RCMP where a cop was killed in the cafe downtown.
More history-The last pass in the rockies to be discovered, home of Canada's second biggest rockslide(Frank slide)
The plane crash-A 1 hour quad ride or half day hike will take you to the plane crash,7 from the RCAF perished when their plane hit the peak of ptolemy mountain and slid down the mountain to rest in the valley below,Most of it's still there and the tail has graffitti from back in the 60's on it,you might even recognize some of the names scratched into it. Cost-free
scenery-window mountain, ten minutes from town there is a mountain with a hole through it.There is a high mountain lake right below the window where you can fish your guts out while the hole in the mountain is big enough to fly a 747 through. Cost-free.
The continental divide, depending on which way the wind is blowing if you take a leak on it good chance it will be going west, turn around and it's going to BC
The source is at the crowsnest lakes on the alta/bc border and comes from a cave,if your gutsy enough to follow the underground creek under the mountain you come out in a cavern where there is some very prominent explorer,s names scratched on the wall from back in the time of Dr. Livingstone(I presume)
Diving-Crowsnest lake has a train at the bottom, rumour has it that the boxcars are still full of rum barrells,Before the highway was in folks would traverse the lake and there is some old ones sitting at the bottom from when they broke through. cost-free if you talk to the right person.
Lots more that would take days to list,I am fiercely proud of my area and it's history and have guided for years here on my days off on foot, sleds and quads, allmost everyone I have taken out has come back.
sadly though,Bridgegate developments has found my little corner of wilderness and is going to build Canada's biggest mountain resort here, then the condo's,another golf course, etc. So if you want to see Alberta's last bit of the rockies before it gets developed this would be the route to take. And if you get sick of here then the drive into BC and Kelowna is laid back and very scenic but not many passing lanes and the road is very winding. Lots to see on the drive, you get to go through all the small towns, you cant do that on the trans Canada.

I never claimed anything that I couldn't back up. I even reffered you to page one to further nullify the whole thing yet you seemed intent on keeping it up. You also brought up the subject of homosexuality for some reason. Sure hope you have some evidence to....

"back up your massive claim".

I guess I pushed the wrong PM button for the wrong person. Doesn't make it any less. Go ahead and reprint it. It still means the same thing. Oh well.

Thanks again,as for the inferiority complex....ahhhhh,dont think so.
That PM made my day.

Sorry,as much as I would love to I have some morals you know,PM means Private Message. I would never publish one, dont know why you think I would. It was good all the same.

Thanks for making my day.
I'll let you have the last word and we can get back on topic ok?

Me too. Shame at that.
So does this mean Tman and Ziggy are going to stop taking jibes at each other on a thread that neither of them even started?? C'mon guys!
