Canmore (an hour west of Calgary) to Kamloops takes me 5 or 6 hours - and I drive really fast with few stops.
If you're travelling with kids, denmns, and you're taking the #1, there are a few places near Revelstoke worth a look-see. Craigellachie (the Last Spike) is a nice place to stretch your legs, and even has a good photo-op. Not too far from there is the Enchanted Forest - basically a trail through the woods, full of storybook characters. There's even a castle. If it's a hot day, I recommend stopping, as the woods are nice and cool.
There are several fruit stands from Sicamous on - you have to grab whatever is in season. Peaches or Apricots might be ready then - should be some plums too.
Are you driving in a car or an RV?
