Guess Who's Starting to Turn Up at Tea Parties?

Then they are closing the barn door well after the cow has left.
Socialized healthcare has proven to be much cheaper than the American system as it is now. That, if done right, is part of the solution.
Cut out the waste. And by waste I mean lawyers and obscenely profitable insurance companies.

Cool. Thanks. To all my peeps then. What are we going to do about all these damned socialists trying to hijack the movement to lower taxes, and demand more personal freedom to succeed?
The first thing I'd recommend is don't be intimidated by stuff like hateful labeling of critique as "hate-fest". It's an old Saul Allinsky trick, where they infiltrate, then insist you live up to your own rules. So you see, I can't call a socialist a socialist because that would be "hateful", and we don't want to be that.
I guess we should visit a Palin thread some time, and learn the proper way to pleasantly critique. (you got the sarcasm there, right?)
You refer to these folks on the left as "ticks", and it's hard to imagine that analogy isn't meant to offend. Then you take offence when those you intended to offend are offended. Rather silly.
Zip, only pinko commie lovers or elitest liberals use the word, "rather" in the context you just did.

By lawyers do you mean something like tort reform? They want that. I don't get the impression they're as gung ho pro insurance companies as you might think either. They're in favor of measures like allowing buying insurance across state lines to keep the companies competitive. What they appear to want is a more gradual fix of healthcare in general with tweaks, or possibly even reconstruction where what they've got is wrong, while retaining what they like.
I'm not really qualified to talk healthcare with you though. I can just go by impressions. I can talk the other one with more confidence if you like - cap and tax.

I'm fairly certain that everyone hates insurance companies, regardless of politics, national origin, or health condition. Even if insurance coverage saves your life, it makes it as painful as possible to get your life saved.
Well I won't touch on the subject because I don't think national health care is possible for the US right now no matter how much I love the system in Canada.
But one thing to keep in mind is that as bad as insurance companies are if your over 75 in Canada and need expensive treatment it can be very very hard for the government to approve it.
