So it's time to man up and ignore it like George did.

Did your life change once Harper went into office?
Yes, as did all of our lives when different laws and changes took place...as they always do with new government.
So with this, you claim that a new government brings new laws? And ONLY a NEW government implements those? So a sitting government does not?
My daily life never changed when a new government took office. I still had to go to school/work/pay taxes/do groceries/cook dinner/change diapers/clean my house/get gas/pay my bills. That didn't even change when I moved to another country, with a completely different political system.

All governments make change. New governments tend to act on new promises, new ideas and get the ball rolling at least to offer the appearance of change.

So you paid the exact same amount of sales and income tax? Bills were all the same from Country to Country?

That is what you consider "change in daily life"?? SERIOUSLY???

Amazingly, you don't.
Just speaking about income and taxes alone, more or less income can have a drastic change on your life and what you're able to provide to your family. How we live our lives relates directly to our income so more or less can have a large impact.

That doesn't change the day a new government steps into office.
It may change over time, and regardless of which way the government at that time leans, it will change. Having a right or a left government does not necessarily change the budget or the spending.
Your personal government does. Your boss decides whether you get your promotion or raise, regardless whether it is Harper in charge or the NDP.
Unless of course you think that the banking crisis of 2008 in the US was the direct result of Bush being voted into office 8 years before that. Do you think that could have been avoided with another President?
Do you think the mess in Greece could have been avoided if they had another PM (or President, I dunno what they have there). Do you think Angela Merkel is solely responsible for the way Germany is run?

Yet liberals frequently argue the exact opposite of what you just posted. They contend that higher taxes improve the economy and that higher taxes improve day to day domestic well being. Never mind that higher taxes result in less take home pay they miraculously improve life for everyone
who is a government employee and a union member.

Of course it doesn't happen the day one gets voted in. Change does happen over time and often a little quicker with a new government.

And our government decides how much my government will take off my cheque and what percentage of what I buy goes into their coffers.

So that has changed since 2006?
FEDERAL taxes, not municipal taxes. Also, do not count inflation, that happens, regardless.

Many changes to taxation over the last 6 years. Some are good, some are just bad/vote buying tactics.
Lowering of various levels of personal income tax combined with various credits and the GST cut are just a few.

And that was all Harper's idea, right? Has never come up before?

See, my point is, the governing President does not have the sole say in anything. It has to go through various parties (lets only take Obama care that has been voted on 33 times), so your point that it makes a HUGE difference in someone's life which party delivers the leader of a country, is just bs.

Obamacare was passed by a lame-duck Senate, a lame-duck House, and then it was rushed through by Democrat leadership without any hearings and without anyone outside of Democrat leadership even getting to read the bill before it was passed and signed. The 33 votes have been votes by the current GOP House to REPEAL Obamacare and the purpose of those votes has been to FORCE the Democrats to go on record supporting Obamacare in an election year.
