Feel free to update this one on your own with whatever examples of Republican hypocrisy, perversity, maliciousness, and any other form of knuckle-dragging behaviour from members of the party that exemplifies the very worst of "it's alright for me but not for thee" thinking! There's too many stories about these guys, practically everyday too, to make a thread for each one so why not just have an omnibus thread to cover 'em all?
First up, Republican lawmaker who regards gays as a threat to children gets hammered, crashes speedboat into another boat full of kids. Boo-yah!

A homophobic Maryland lawmaker has admitted to being drunk when he accidentally crashed his boat into a boat full of children.
Maryland delegate Don H. Dwyer Jr was drinking with another man on his boat on the Magothy River in Pasadena around 7pm when his boat struck a smaller vessel with five children on board.
Four of the children were injured with one, a five year old girl, taken by helicopter to Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.
Two adults on the boat were unharmed.
The smash was so severe that Dwyer’s boat sunk in the river.
Dwyer, a Tea Party Republican, has in the past suggested that homosexuals were a threat to children and that same-sex marriage would lead to homosexuality being taught in schools.
Dwyer has previously attempted to ban same-sex marriage in Maryland by attaching an amendment to a bill on marriage license fees and sought the sacking or impeachment of public officials who have made decisions that were supportive of same-sex couples having the right to marry.

Gays bad, shit-faced maniac behind the wheel OK. Clearly another adherent of the Newt Gingrich maxim of "the message I have to spread is so important that my own awful personal behaviour doesn't matter". OMG, slippery-slope to Gomorrah! Next thing you know it'll be dogs getting drunk and crashing their boats into other dog boaters!

You're actually falling into a trap here, assuming you believe in abortion on demand, at least for non-viable fetuses. The Repubs (and our own Canadian crazies) would turn around and say, OK, we'll allow abortion for rape and incest cases, but not otherwise. Is that what you want? Better to argue for a woman's right to abortion no matter what the cause of conception, then talk about reasonable limits, like once the fetus becomes viable, around weeks.
