History in the making. I knew it was going to be a wipeout but I never thought that it could get this big of a slaughter. The most important thing was to keep Palin, the Rapturist maniac, from getting into the White House as the back-up hitter in case something bad ever happened to McCain, and it looks like this goal has been accomplished.
The upcoming years in the wilderness shedding themselves of their affiliations to the fringe nutcases will be good for the Republicans. Maybe they can get all Biblical and ponder for a while as to "what good is it to gain the world if you lose your soul", and then find out a way to become once again the Party of Lincoln, Goldwater, and Reagan rather than the haunt of Bush II, Rove, Cheney, and Palin.
A big thank you to the American people for showing their eternal wisdom and showing that there is no brink that cannot be pulled back from. Everyone together now:

I guess it's never too early for you guys to start up the campaign of hysteria to carry you through your time in opposition. I imagine that some, thanks to their hate of the "unconservative" McCain, were actually looking forward to the Republicans getting beaten. It does give the Limbaughs and Coulters and FOXes of the base to go back in time to their golden years of the Clinton 1990's where they were able to hone their skills in hatemongering, xenophobia, and the politics of personal destruction. And shame on you for it because you've actually managed to make me feel sorry again for the Clintons for what you guys put them through.
Move to the centre and become part of the real America. Stay on the sidelines with the nutcases and remain forever irrelevant, and your only comfort will be that you managed to turn the Party of Lincoln into the Party of the Old Confederacy and other allied redneck atavists that refuse to grow up. The only people you guys have anything in common with anymore, at least in terms of intent and of shared negative emotions and mentality, are the Muslim medievalists and dark agers that give Bin Laden his mojo. The real America that believes in a good future for everyone is rapidly leaving your kind of folks far behind in the distance.
The choice is yours as to which side you want to belong. Just remember that what's right and what's wrong never changes. And America proved again tonight that in their hearts most of them know it.

It's funny to think about, but I can't ever recall a minority(racial) being elected to a leadership position anywhere in the world. I thought Europe might of had one but couldn't find one. Anyone know where this has happened before?
