Who exactly is "the world"? Who are these people who are going to risk starting WW3 with the most powerful nation in the world just to save Canada from becoming a US state? We have strategic position and could take over Canada easily.
Now, I asked a serious question and expected at least an intelligent reply. No need to insult because you don't like my question. Grow up.
We both know it wont happen. I'm just speaking of the ethics involved. We COULD do it, it's easy enough. So why not?

Isn't Canada under the rule of Elisabeth II? If so, wouldn't you basically be starting a war with the UK? That is also Australia and Canada. Also, I wouldn't go as far as to say that you are the most powerful nation on earth.

I think when the US starts to go under from financial collapse, and the American peso is so devalued we could just buy large chuncks of 'merica.

Colorado, would be a safer bet to buy, Washington State or Oregon too.
Me, I want New Hampshire and maybe Vermont.

I want to buy Florida, next to Maine, isn't it hosting the most Canucks (snowbirds etc)? we should be able to get it cheap if the current real estate prices are any indication.

OF COURSE it would be morally wrong for the US to invade Canada. And it would never happen. It was a hypothetical question. But instead of answering the question in a logical manner you scream, "bring it on! we'd kick your asses!" which is just plain silly.

But Canada causing significant damage to America to the point that there would be complete outrage in the U.S, well that could easily happen. We are not as poorly equipped as you think we are. We have almost all the same equipment as you, but in lesser amounts. Our airforce is pretty much evenly matched with yours due to the fact that the CF-18 is further upgraded then the F-18 and we put more money into training our pilots. Im not saying that we would win, which for sure would not happen, but the chances of casualties at about 9 or 10 times those in Vietnam are very likely. And as Saddam Hussein said before the Iraq war, " The American people have no tolerance for casualties. ", so think what would happen if close too 500,000 american soldiers died. It would be enough outrage to over turn the american government. It would not be a wise decision by the United States, not just because its morally wrong, but because in the end, they would have to be prepared to shoot their own citizens.

Come on! They have hated you guys for years. The USA and Russia/China have never played nice. I think they would love the opurtunity to take a hit on the god old US of A.
The Cold War, Spy planes over China, there is alot of mistrust between you and them. I'm saying that the like us better but they have more reason to act on you than us.
Russia also never liked Britian or the countries which were democracies. What I was saying is that China and Russia would not get involved either way because they throughout history have usually only been concerned about themselves. Why is Russia going to give lifes for Canada and make something into a world war? Russia and Canada aren't that good of friends for them to give their lifes for Canadians. Russia and China are countries that have always been concerned about themselves. If the US attacked Canada and it had nothing to do with Russia, Russia might not like it, but I strongly doubt they will have the money and resources to get involved anyways. Russia didn't believe in the US attacking Iraq, and even had oil contracts with them, yet they did nothing. What makes you think a country like Russia who doesn't even really trade or have anything to do with Canada, will suddenly come to the rescue and give their lifes for it?
I have to say, Russia wouldn't, but with the money Stephen Harper has been putting into China, they would possibly join our side. Sure the Americans owe them trillions, but they want money now, and as Canada has been putting a lot of money into funding their operations and building of factories and such, they would quite possibly back us up. Then they would promptly take their money from a crippled U.S government and leave North America.
Plus American Forces would't last one month fighting in Nunavut. You could say oh the Alaskans would help but then again, how many people are from alaska in the military. Most canadians have seen temperatures well below -20 Celsius (-4 F) and people from Edmonton actually saw a temperature of -48 C ( -54 F ) only three years ago. Our military is also trained in cold weather combat almost as a specialty. Taking major urban centres such as Toronto and Vancouver wouldn't be as hard on the troops. Vancouver usually remains above zero in the winter and the coldest Toronto ever really drops to is around -25 C ( -13 F ) in the winter time. It may be cold for you americans but for people from Winnipeg, Regina, Churchill ( The Polar Bear Capital Of The World, that just shows you how cold it gets there.),Edmonton and Calgary its just a little chilly. Now think how well an M1A1 Abrams would perform when its -30 out or bring to climb through 5 meter (15 foot) snowpacks in the mountains of B.C just to reach the northern parts.
Every reason i listed above is a reason why the americans couldn't invade Canada. I'm talking about just the environment alone and a fight of that size would definitely drag on through the winter.
