Canada, living next to the U.S. cares a little to much what
our neighbour thinks. I'm sure Spain doesn't sit
around caring what France thinks of them.
So why does Canada care?
Probably because America
has a way of overlooking what we do for them.
Landing planes for them after the terrorist attacks,
Bush thanked every nation for helping except us.
But who cares. Canada is a great country.
We dont need the US to recognize that.
There's to much discussion about Canada/US relations.
I'm sure Americans aren't discussing the
soft wood lumber dispute, or how they could mend relations with us. Personally I dont care.
There is more interesting things to talk about.
Plus, I dont want Americans to know how great it is here because then they might all want to move up here. Thats just what we need.

Great stuff. Words of wisdom.

Ten minutes ago you wrote: "an aggressive, bullying empire is everyone's problem, not just Canada's"!

Thus we shouldn't seek American approbation.

Approbation for what? trying to solve everyone's problem or living our life insulated of the problem.

My take is that these complainers are old women.

Like old women they complain about being taken for granted.

It should be automatic to be able to take for granted a good friend and not have to constantly court that good friend or wife.

On 911, the US correctly took for granted their diverted airliners were welcome.

Getting pissy about not being mentioned with the UK etc is just juvenile.

My take is that does who say "who cares" are immature.

Finally. If people are pissed that we weren't mentioned in a damn speech, well get over it you whiny fucks. I've read PLENTY of thank yous from newspapers about how Gander took in all of those people. They deserve the thanks since they did the work. I'm sure a good number of you whiny bastards wouldn't have done anything for them because they're the eviiiiil Americans.

Condoleezza Rice has thanked us for that help anyway.

Understand! Streaker was stucked with me on the thread: "Canada losing status as prime U.S. ally?"

Chill Benoit,

We were referring to Streaker's resurrection of this dead thread, not to your response.

Same here, I think that is the most interesting arguement I have read this topic and very true.

Canada sent help with Katrina, we helped out with U.S.'s other disasters. Even our evil corporations (All Corporations are evil) supplied money so completly destroyed towns can rebuild, and even supplied builders, and contractors.

Our effort was so great towards that, that even one of the towns we helped out renamed itself to Canada (or something Canadian related, been awhile since I saw the article/video).

Yet I haven't really seen anything regarding any thanks, or reconision for it except directly from the individual people and towns we helped out.

Hell I can't even game anymore without a shitload of American's getting on my case for being Canadian (Gamename: Canadian4206, or CanadianTO). Though it's pretty much always been like that, only gotten worse over the years.

Canada however gets a lot of respect from pretty much all the Europe Country's, expecially from the British People (Not Government).

So if Canada and the rest of the world can get along to so great, why not Canada and America?

I think it's because the American people are just not educated enough about the world around them. There education is all about America. Like they are in a little bubble (Probally due to having there Government run there education system).

Though in all fairness, Canadians are just naturally Anti-American apparently because Canadians are raised just so differently, more community bases and more friendly which is completly different from the American experience. America is just so different from Canada that it is hard not to be Anti-American. (Meaning Anti-American Government, not Anti-Americans).

We see the American Government for what it really is. The most corrupt, broken Government in the world. We always voice our opinion about that, however naturally as anybody would do. Americans stick up for there Government, which I would do if it was my Government. The Arguement remains.

Personally, I don't think there is much chance of Canada and the U.S. to really have a good relationship. Despite for our politicians.

Americans don't care about Canada (Obviously), so Canadians shouldn't care about America.

Canadians just have to pat themselves on the back for every good deed they do. "Look at us, aren't we wonderful?" And they MUST get praise or the recipient of their good deed is deemed ungrateful.
As for corrupt Government, Canada should be looking at its own political scene instead of pointing the finger at U.S. There's plenty going on here that's not right. Watched Parliamentary proceedings lately?? Its disgusting.
